HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTE

Institute of the Languages and Literature of the Peoples of the East, founded in 1944, is one of the oldest and leading centers of Oriental Studies in Uzbekistan, with a strong academic tradition in teaching Eastern languages, literature, and translation art. It occupies a key position in Uzbek Orientalistica, contributing to the development of philological sciences, intercultural dialogue, and scholarly research on Eastern civilizations. The institute regularly publishes scientific works, including research articles, critical editions, and translations, contributing to the advancement of language, literature, and translation studies. Its professors, researchers, and students actively participate in international academic exchange programs and regularly undergo professional training abroad. The institute’s faculty and graduates have received numerous national and international awards and continue to strengthen academic and institutional cooperation with foreign universities and research centers.
