In 1991, simultaneously with the establishment of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, the Department of the History of the Peoples of Central Asia was founded as part of its structure. In 2017, the department was renamed the Department of the History and Source Studies of the Peoples of Central Asia, and in 2020 it was renamed the Department of the History and Ethnology of the Peoples of Central Asia.In accordance with the State Educational Standards of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Continuing Education (SES of Higher Education), the department\u2019s faculty members teach courses based on the requirements for the bachelor\u2019s degree program \u201c5220200 \u2013 History (by countries and regions)\u201d concerning the level of training and required knowledge content. These standards were later updated to \u201c60220300 \u2013 History (Central Asian Countries).\u201dAt the master\u2019s level, training is conducted under the specialties \u201c5A220204 (currently 70220303) \u2013 Historiography, Source Studies and Methods of Historical Research (Central Asian Countries)\u201d and, starting from the 2020\u20132021 academic year, \u201c5A121401 (currently 70230501) \u2013 Ethnography, Ethnology and Anthropology,\u201d with defined general requirements for the level of preparation and required knowledge content of master\u2019s students.The department offers courses on the general history of the peoples of Central Asia and the region, the history of statehood, historical geography, historical source studies and historiography, systems of religious worldview, stages of socio-political development, material and spiritual culture, as well as ethnic-social and ethno-cultural relations.In addition, a master\u2019s program has been organized under the department in the fields of historiography, source studies, and the methods and methodology of historical research. Within the specialty \u201c70230501 \u2013 Ethnography, Ethnology and Anthropology,\u201d students are trained in ethnology, social anthropology, anthropological and ethnological research methods, as well as historical and contemporary ethnocultural processes.In the 2022\u20132023 academic year, a new bachelor\u2019s degree program \u201c60230500 \u2013 Anthropology and Ethnology\u201d was opened, and first-year students were admitted.<\/p>\n
