In 1918, the Turkitan Institute of Oriental Studies was established in Tashkent. in this Institute along with the language and literature of the eastern countries, the history of those eastern countries is also included. In 1944, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, which was reorganized under the Central Asian State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan), also produces the history of Near and Middle East. In 1991 on the basis of this faculty the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies was established and one of its main directions was the teaching of the history of eastern countries. Even after the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies was established on the basis of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies in accordance with the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-4680 dated April 16, 2020, this direction remains one of the main directions of the university. In this way, the department, which has almost the same tradition, experience is developing today under the name of the department \u201cHistory and Anthropology of the East\u201d. Currently, this department has its reputation as the only center and large scientific institution in Uzbekistan, which is less in Central Asia, which trains Orientalists-historians.<\/p>\n

Scientific research works are carried out at the department in the directions of the history of sociologic-economic and political development of Eastern countries. The results of these scientific researches are published in the form of monographs, scientific pamphlets, textbooks and training manuals, and are brought to the attention of historians-experts and students. The teachers and researchers of the department are actively conducting scientific research for the preparation of doctoral dissertations within the framework of scientific research activities. Names and codes of department specializations (PhD and DSc): \u2013 07.00.03.- World history; 07.00.05-History of international relations and foreign policy (on historical subjects); 07.00.08 \u2013 Historiography, source studies and historical research methods.<\/p>\n
