17.2.2. CROSS SECTORAL DIALOGUE ABOUT SDGS<\/p>\n
TSUOS is firmly committed to advancing the United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through engaging and facilitating cross-sectoral dialogue. Recognising that impactful progress requires cooperation across academia, government, civil society, and the private sector, TSUOS organises and participates in conferences, forums and roundtables both regionally and globally.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The conferences below illustrate TSUOS\u2019s active engagement in dialogues not only regionally but also globally, involving government bodies, NGOs, academic institutions and international partners:<\/p>\n Agenda<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n On 11 February 2026, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) hosted the 6th International Scientific and Practical Conference, \u201cDeveloping a Culture of Gender Equality: Family Values, Educational Policy, and the Transformation of Social Consciousness,\u201d in observance of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.<\/p>\n Organised within the framework of SDG 5 (Gender Equality), the conference provided a cross-sectoral platform for dialogue on women’s participation in science, education and public life. Participants included the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and Chairperson of the Family and Women\u2019s Committee, representatives of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the leader of the Milliy Tiklanish Democratic Party, and representatives of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Women in Uzbekistan, alongside academic and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n By bringing together government decision-makers, international organisations and academia, TSUOS facilitated the exchange of national and international experience on gender equality, educational policy and women’s empowerment. The event demonstrated the university’s role in advancing SDG 5 and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through dialogue and cooperation across institutional sectors.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n In cooperation with the Fergana regional government and Rissho University of Japan, TSUOS organised the II International Conference on the Silk Road as a Symbol of Sustainable Tourism. The conference brought together university and government stakeholders to discuss sustainable tourism and the cultural and economic potential of the Silk Road.<\/p>\n The event created a platform for dialogue between academia and public authorities on the contribution of cultural heritage and tourism to regional development. It is relevant to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through its focus on sustainable tourism, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, and SDG 17 through international and institutional partnerships.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Agenda<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n From 12\u201316 August 2025, TSUOS co-organised the X International Conference of the Association for the Study of Persian Societies (ASPS), bringing together international scholars and representatives of the higher education sector. The opening ceremony featured TSUOS Rector Gulchehra Rikhsieva, ASPS President Miryam Kunkler and Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Otabek Mahkamov.<\/p>\n Through thematic sessions, round tables, book presentations and academic exchanges, the conference facilitated dialogue between university researchers, an international scholarly association and government representatives. It strengthened international academic cooperation and the exchange of knowledge across national and disciplinary boundaries, supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Agenda<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n TSUOS hosted the IX International Forum of Translation Studies, dedicated to Ogahiy\u2019s literary heritage and the challenges of literary translation. The forum brought together Uzbek and international scholars to exchange research findings and discuss approaches to literary translation, cultural heritage and intercultural communication.<\/p>\n The forum was attended by representatives of government and cultural institutions, including Nodirjon Kholbutaev, Head of the Department for the Development of the State Language under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Gayrat Majid, Deputy Chairman of the Writers\u2019 Union of Uzbekistan; and Salim Ashur, Advisor to the Chairman of the Writers\u2019 Union. Their participation strengthened cross-sectoral dialogue between academia, government and the literary community on the preservation and promotion of Uzbekistan\u2019s literary heritage, supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n TSUOS participated in an international conference in Ankara dedicated to Mahmudkhoja Behbudiy and the Jadid movement in Turkestan. The conference provided a platform for Uzbek and Turkish scholars to exchange perspectives on educational reform, history, culture and intellectual heritage.<\/p>\n By engaging with international academic partners, TSUOS contributed to cross-border dialogue on the historical role of education and intellectual movements in social development. The conference is relevant to SDG 4, particularly the broader role of education and knowledge in society, and SDG 17, through international academic cooperation.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n In cooperation with Jawaharlal Nehru University, TSUOS organised an international conference examining the reflection of cultural and educational values in literature. Scholars and representatives of literary and cultural communities from Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan exchanged research findings and discussed opportunities for cooperation in linguistics and literary studies.<\/p>\n The conference facilitated intercultural dialogue and knowledge exchange among academic and cultural stakeholders from three countries. The conference brought together prominent scholars and representatives of literature and culture from Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan, including Abhay Kumar, Vice-President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The participation of academic, cultural and international cooperation representatives strengthened cross-border dialogue on cultural and educational values, promoting knowledge exchange and intercultural understanding. The conference contributed to SDG 4 (Quality Education) through academic collaboration and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through international cooperation.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Agenda<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n TSUOS organised an international scientific-practical conference entitled \u201cHistorical Realities and Philosophical Ideals: Dialogues between Disciplines,\u201d creating a platform for interdisciplinary exchange among researchers working in history, philosophy, culture and related fields.<\/p>\n The conference brought together distinguished scholars and experts from the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, India, Azerbaijan, the United States, Kyrgyzstan and Poland, creating an international platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and the exchange of research findings. Through discussions on historical heritage, philosophical thought and contemporary scientific approaches, the event fostered collaboration across countries and academic disciplines. It contributed to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting knowledge exchange and scholarly engagement, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening international academic cooperation.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Agenda<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n TSUOS hosted an international scientific-practical conference bringing together researchers studying the Karakhanid period, Turkic civilisation and the Islamic world. The event facilitated scholarly exchange across historical, cultural and linguistic disciplines, connecting researchers from different academic backgrounds and national contexts.<\/p>\n The International Scientific-Practical Conference on Alp Er Tunga and the Karakhanids brought together high-level representatives of government, international and regional organisations, academic institutions and the media.
