EDUCATION FOR SDGS IN THE WIDER COMMUNITY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) is strongly committed to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through community-based education and lifelong learning. The university extends its academic mission far beyond campus, ensuring equitable access to knowledge and skills development for all groups of society \u2014 including youth, women, teachers, civil servants, and residents of rural or disadvantaged regions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> TSUOS for Community Education and Lifelong Learning<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The <strong>TSUOS for Community Education and Lifelong Learning<\/strong> program represents the university\u2019s flagship initiative for social outreach. Its primary goal is to expand the educational and social impact of TSUOS by providing inclusive, high-quality learning opportunities for people outside formal higher education.<br \/>\nUnder this initiative, <strong>TSUOS professors and students conduct seminars, open lessons, and workshops<\/strong> across 19 partner community schools. These activities enhance pupils\u2019 foreign-language proficiency, cultural literacy, and academic motivation, while supporting teachers with methodological innovation and pedagogical skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Main goals of the initiative include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Promoting lifelong learning and SDG-oriented education for all;<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening university\u2013community engagement;<\/li>\n<li>Enhancing language and cultural literacy among the public;<\/li>\n<li>Expanding educational inclusion for vulnerable and rural communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Target Groups<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The university\u2019s outreach programs serve:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students and teachers of secondary schools and academic lyceums;<\/li>\n<li>Women, youth, and unemployed citizens seeking new professional qualifications;<\/li>\n<li>Local residents interested in languages, culture, or global affairs;<\/li>\n<li>Disadvantaged groups and residents of remote regions with limited access to education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Key Educational Outreach Activities<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/tsuos.uz\/en\/english-education-outreach-activities-beyond-campus-university-of-public-safety\/\"><strong>Open Lectures and Public Seminars<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>TSUOS academics deliver open lectures in schools, cultural centers, and public libraries nationwide. Popular themes include <em>intercultural communication and global citizenship<\/em>, <em>language learning and translation skills<\/em>, and <em>sustainable development and social responsibility<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>These lectures are <strong>free of charge<\/strong> and accessible to all members of the public.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Mobile Education Teams<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Special <em>Mobile Education Teams<\/em> of teachers and volunteer students visit rural districts \u2014 including <a href=\"https:\/\/tsuos.uz\/en\/toshkent-davlat-sharqshunoslik-universiteti-jamoasi-boysunda-maktab-bitiruvchilari-bilan-uchrashuv-otkazildi\/\">Boysun (Surkhandarya)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tsuos.uz\/en\/chust-tumanida-turizm-va-talim-hamkorligi-sharqshunoslar-chust-maktablarida\/\">Chust (Namangan)<\/a> \u2014 to provide short courses, mentoring, and sustainability-related workshops. This initiative ensures that learners in remote communities can benefit from university-level education and training.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Collaboration with Schools and Educational Institutions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Each higher school and department of TSUOS is formally partnered with assigned schools across multiple regions (Fergana, Namangan, Surkhandarya, Tashkent, and Parkent districts). Professors supervise school students\u2019 engagement in <strong>scientific circles<\/strong>, research mentoring, and Olympiads, helping them explore science, technology, and sustainability topics.<\/p>\n<p>This cooperation also includes <strong>\u201cOpen University Days,\u201d<\/strong> which bring secondary-school students to the university for exposure to campus life and global education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Digital Education and Open Access Learning<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Through its <strong>Digital Library Platform<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/dilib.tsuos.uz\/\">dilib.tsuos.uz<\/a>), TSUOS provides free access to thousands of academic resources, e-books, and teaching materials. This digital initiative allows learners nationwide to conduct independent study and research without geographic or economic barriers, aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Cultural and Educational Events<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Annual events such as the <strong>\u201c<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tsuos.uz\/en\/english-orientalists-youth-spring-festival\/\"><strong>Oriental Languages and Cultures Festival<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201c<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tsuos.uz\/en\/english-education-outreach-activities-beyond-campus-3\/\"><strong>TSUOS Open Lecture Week<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u201d<\/strong> engage schools, families, and the public in intercultural dialogue and sustainability awareness. These festivals promote multilingualism, respect for cultural diversity, and responsible global citizenship \u2014 central values of SDG 4.7.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Initiatives<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>On February 2023, the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ibratfarzandlari.uz\/\">Ibrat Farzandlari<\/a>\u201d project was presented to our president Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Namangan region, where one of our jadids, Ishakhan Ibrat, was born and raised, and the project was supported by the president. More than 2,000 video lessons have been published within the framework of the project so far, and about 1 million students are learning languages in the \u201cIbrat Academy\u201d application. With over 30 years of experience, the center delivers courses in Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, and Uzbek.<\/p>\n<p>The programs are open to <strong>any interested participant<\/strong> \u2014 regardless of gender, age, or background \u2014 and range from 3 to 20 months in duration. Graduates of long-term programs receive <strong>state-recognized certificates<\/strong> qualifying them to work as translators or interpreters.<\/p>\n<p>The center also conducts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Professional development and retraining courses<\/strong> for teachers of Oriental languages;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Preparatory courses<\/strong> for university and lyceum entrance exams;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Specialized programs<\/strong> in digital literacy, business communication, and project management;<\/li>\n<li><strong>IELTS, TOEFL, JLPT, HSK, and DELF<\/strong> preparation classes;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Consulting and psychological support<\/strong> for learners and organizations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All curricula are approved by the TSUOS Academic and Methodological Council and regularly updated in line with international best practices and national decrees (Decree No. 196, 2018; Presidential Decree No. 4680, 2020).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Inclusion and Accessibility<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Participation in all vocational and community education programs is guaranteed <strong>without discrimination<\/strong> on the basis of ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or socio-economic status.<\/p>\n<p>Through flexible class schedules, online platforms, and mobile teaching units, TSUOS ensures that education remains accessible to learners in both urban and rural contexts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> Social Impact and Future Implementation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In alignment with the <strong>Action Plan of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan<\/strong>, TSUOS organizes regular <strong>meetings between youth and distinguished scientists<\/strong> to promote scientific curiosity and innovation.<br \/>\nFurthermore, for the 2025\u20132026 academic year, the university has designed a <strong>special program for orphanage pupils<\/strong>, offering extracurricular lessons, competitions, and mentoring in foreign languages, information technology, and natural sciences.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Through its extensive outreach network, digital resources, and professional training programs, TSUOS actively advances the SDGs.
