GENERAL PROVISIONS AND FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES<\/span><\/h2>\n

This Guideline establishes the procedure for organizing, conducting, monitoring, and assessing scientific (research) internship\/practice for master\u2019s students studying at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. The document has been developed on the basis of Resolution No. 36 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 2, 2015, \u201cOn Approval of the Regulation on Master\u2019s Degree Programmes.\u201d<\/span><\/h2>\n

General Purpose of Scientific Practice<\/span><\/h2>\n

The principal purpose of scientific practice is to prepare master\u2019s students for independent scientific research activity, to collect empirical, experimental, and theoretical materials for the master\u2019s dissertation, as well as to develop competencies for applying modern scientific methodology in real research settings.<\/span><\/h2>\n

General Responsibilities of the Master\u2019s Student<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

-To strictly comply with the university\u2019s internal regulations and standards of scientific ethics;<\/span><\/p>\n

-To observe the internal labor regulations of the practice institution\/base;<\/span><\/p>\n

-To document and archive all collected data and sources;<\/span><\/p>\n

-To consult regularly with the academic supervisor (at least once a week);<\/span><\/p>\n

-To maintain the confidentiality of research findings, data, and intellectual property;<\/span><\/p>\n

-To submit reports and required documents within the established deadlines;<\/span><\/p>\n

-To comply with the instructions of the representative of the practice institution\/base and the academic supervisor.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/h2>\n

REGULATIONS OF SCIENTIFIC PRACTICE1.<\/span><\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Procedure for Admission to and Placement in Practice<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A master\u2019s student shall be assigned to scientific practice on the basis of an order issued by the Rector of the university.<\/span><\/h2>\n

    2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The order shall be issued at least 10 (ten) working days prior to the commencement of the practice period.<\/span><\/h2>\n

    3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Each master\u2019s student shall be provided with an assignment letter, an individual scientific practice programme, and a list of assigned tasks.<\/span><\/h2>\n

    4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The practice institution\/base shall be determined based on the recommendation of the academic supervisor and with the approval of the Head of Department.<\/span><\/h2>\n

    5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Where opportunities exist to undertake practice at foreign scientific institutions, coordination shall be carried out with the International Cooperation Department, and an official agreement shall be concluded.<\/span><\/h2>\n

    6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A master\u2019s student may undertake scientific practice at only one practice institution\/base during an academic year.<\/span><\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. Duration and Period of Practice<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The duration of scientific practice shall be determined in accordance with the master\u2019s degree curriculum:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

      The exact dates shall be approved annually by the Rector\u2019s order on the organization of the academic year.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      3. Attendance Requirements<\/span><\/h2>\n

      1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The student shall attend the practice site daily at the designated time and leave in accordance with the established schedule.<\/span><\/h2>\n

      2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the event of absence from the practice site, the student shall notify the practice supervisor.<\/span><\/h2>\n

      3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In cases of illness, a medical certificate shall be submitted.<\/span><\/h2>\n

      4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attendance below 80 percent of the total required attendance shall constitute grounds for an unsatisfactory evaluation of the practice.<\/span><\/h2>\n
        \n
      1. Rules of Scientific Ethics and Professional Conduct<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All sources shall be properly and fully cited, and plagiarism shall not be tolerated (to be verified through a plagiarism detection system);<\/span><\/h2>\n

        –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Interaction with other staff members and administration at the practice institution\/base shall be based on mutual respect;<\/span><\/h2>\n

        –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sharing information about the organization and its employees on social media without authorization is prohibited;<\/span><\/h2>\n

        –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Corporate confidentiality and official information shall not be disclosed to third parties;<\/span><\/h2>\n

        –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dress code: students shall comply with the institution\u2019s dress regulations or generally accepted professional standards.<\/span><\/h2>\n

        Procedure for Maintaining the Research Diary<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

        1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The research diary shall be completed on each working day, documenting completed tasks, reviewed literature, observations, identified issues, and conclusions.<\/span><\/h2>\n

        2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Entries in the diary shall be written in Uzbek (or in the language of the dissertation, where applicable) in a clear, coherent, and academic style.<\/span><\/h2>\n

        3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The diary shall be submitted to the academic supervisor for review and signature (in electronic or printed form).<\/span><\/h2>\n

        4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Incomplete, unsigned, or insufficiently documented diaries requiring additional clarification shall not be considered during the assessment process.<\/span><\/h2>\n

        5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Upon completion of the practice, the diary shall be submitted to the academic supervisor together with the final report.<\/span><\/h2>\n
          \n
        1. Preparation of Reports and Scientific Outputs<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          The final scientific report shall comply with the following requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n

            \n
          • The report shall be prepared in A4 format, using Arial 12 pt font, 1.5 line spacing, with 3 cm left margin and 2 cm margins on all other sides;<\/span><\/li>\n
          • The report shall be written in Uzbek; master\u2019s students who have completed practice at foreign institutions shall additionally attach an extended annotation in English (500\u2013700 words);<\/span><\/li>\n
          • The report cover page shall be prepared in the standard format, and all pages shall be numbered;<\/span><\/li>\n
          • The defense shall be conducted before the Departmental Scientific Commission at the designated date and time.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            1. Procedure for Dispute Resolution and Complaints<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Any dispute arising during the practice period shall be reported to the academic supervisor either orally or in writing.<\/span><\/h2>\n

              2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The academic supervisor shall make every effort to resolve the issue within 3 working days.<\/span><\/h2>\n

              3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If unresolved, the matter shall be reviewed by the Head of Department and subsequently by the Dean.<\/span><\/h2>\n

              4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Where the student believes that their rights have been violated, an appeal may be submitted to the University Student Practice and Career Center.<\/span><\/h2>\n
                \n
              1. Disciplinary Measures<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                The following actions shall constitute violations of scientific practice regulations:<\/span><\/p>\n

                  \n
                • Absence from the practice site without valid justification;<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Falsification of documents and reports;<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Damage caused to the property of the institution\/organization;<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Refusal to comply with the reasonable instructions of the academic supervisor.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  In the event that the practice is assessed as unsatisfactory, the master\u2019s student shall be retained for the academic year.<\/span><\/p>\n

                  CHAPTER I. SCIENTIFIC PRACTICE: OBJECTIVES AND TASKS<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  For Year 2 Master\u2019s Students of All Specializations<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  1.1. Objectives and Tasks<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  The primary objective of scientific practice is to develop independent scientific research skills in master\u2019s students, to collect practical and theoretical materials related to the dissertation topic, and to enhance their ability to apply modern scientific methodology in real research settings.<\/span><\/p>\n

                  Scientific practice addresses the following tasks:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To conduct an in-depth study and systematization of sources and literature related to the dissertation topic;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To become acquainted with the scientific research activities of the practice institution\/base;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To collect primary data for the empirical part of the dissertation (including surveys, interviews, experiments, archival work, etc.);<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To analyze and interpret collected data using scientific methods;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To prepare at least one scientific article or conference thesis\/paper for publication;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To hold regular scientific discussions and consultations with the academic supervisor;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To prepare a draft of the relevant section (chapter) of the dissertation.<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  \u00a0<\/strong><\/span>1.3. Scientific Practice Bases<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  Scientific practice may be organized at the following institutions and organizations:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

                  CHAPTER II. SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES OF THE MASTER\u2019S STUDENT<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  2.1. Mandatory Scientific Activities<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  During the practice period, the master\u2019s student shall carry out the following types of research activities depending on the specialization:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
                  Type of Research<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nContent and Description<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
                  Theoretical-Analytical Research<\/span><\/td>\nScientific analysis of literature and sources related to the dissertation topic, as well as the development of the conceptual framework of the scientific research<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
                  Empirical Research<\/span><\/td>\nConducting surveys, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, observations, experiments, archival research, or corpus analysis<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
                  Data Analysis<\/span><\/td>\nApplication of quantitative (statistical) or qualitative methods (including content analysis, discourse analysis, and ethnographic analysis) for the interpretation and evaluation of collected data<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
                  Scientific Article \/ Thesis<\/span><\/td>\nPreparation for publication or publication of at least one scientific article or conference thesis\/paper<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

                  CHAPTER III. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ACADEMIC SUPERVISOR AND THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PRACTICE INSTITUTION\/BASE<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  <\/h2>\n

                  3.1. Responsibilities of the Academic Supervisor<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  The academic supervisor (university) shall perform the following responsibilities:<\/span><\/p>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Develop and approve an individual practice programme related to the master\u2019s student\u2019s dissertation topic;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Conduct consultation sessions at least once a week (in person or remotely);<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide scientific guidance on research methodology, sources, and data analysis;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Review and sign the research diary and interim reports;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide methodological and editorial assistance in the preparation of a scientific article or conference thesis\/paper;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Evaluate the final report and submit an assessment\/opinion to the commission.<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  3.2. Responsibilities of the Representative of the Practice Institution\/Base<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assign the master\u2019s student\u2019s workplace and provide access to the necessary resources (archives, laboratories, databases);<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Introduce the student to the institution\u2019s regulations and safety requirements;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide methodological and practical support during the research process;<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prepare an official reference\/evaluation report on the master\u2019s student\u2019s performance during the practice period (with signature and seal);<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Where necessary, involve the master\u2019s student in the institution\u2019s internal events and meetings.<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  CHAPTER IV. REPORT STRUCTURE AND PRESENTATION<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  4.1. Structure of the Final Scientific Report<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                  The master\u2019s student\u2019s final scientific report shall consist of the following mandatory sections:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

                  4.2. Requirements for a Scientific Article<\/span><\/h3>\n

                  During the scientific practice period, the master\u2019s student shall prepare at least one scientific article or conference thesis\/paper. The following requirements shall apply:<\/span><\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • Length: scientific article – 8-15 pages; conference thesis\/paper \u2013 3-5 pages;<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Language: Uzbek, Russian, or English (corresponding to the dissertation language);<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Structure: abstract, keywords, introduction, main body, conclusion, and references;<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Journal: preference shall be given, where possible, to journals included in the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC\/OAK) list or reputable international indexed publications (Scopus, Web of Science);<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • The article manuscript shall be included in the appendix to the final report.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    CHAPTER V. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
