On December 11, 2021, the 1st scientific and practical seminar “Uzbekistan-Russia: the development of Korean studies at the modern stage” was held, prepared jointly by the Department of Oriental Studies at the Humanitarian Institute of Novosibirsk State University (Russia) and the Department of Korean Philology at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (Uzbekistan).<\/p>\n

The following speakers spoke at the seminar: Head of the Department of Oriental Studies of the Humanitarian Institute of Novosibirsk State University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor E.E. Voytishek. The seminar program included reports on\u00a0 issues in the development of Korean studies, Korean linguistics, history, in particular, “The Department of Oriental Studies of the State Institute of the NSU: History of Development and Prospects” (Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor E.E. Voytishek, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor A.\u00a0 Shmakova), \u201cStudy of Bohai in North and South Korea based on archaeological data (V.V. Akhmetov),\u00a0 \u201cThe problem of consonant opposition in the Korean language \u201d(A.S. Shamrin),\u201c About distance learning through teaching at NSU\u00a0 “(Kim Geun Mi).\u00a0 The Department of Korean Philology of Tashkent State University of Higher Education presented reports “The Korean language in Uzbekistan: an overview of linguistic research” (Doctor of Philology, Professor N.D Kim), “On the issue of semantic differences in the Korean language” (PhD, G.D Yunusova), “Antonymy in Korean” (PhD, Associate Professor T.S Kim.<\/p>\n

The content of the seminar was rich and interesting, facilitating cooperation and exchange of research results in Korean studies. Online lectures were attended by students, undergraduates, applicants and faculty of both\u00a0 universities.<\/p>\n

The University is one of the participants in the Priority 2030 Project.\u00a0 On March 25, 2016, as a result of the reunification of three independent subdivisions: the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Journalism and the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the scientific and educational subdivision of the Humanitarian Institute was created, within which the Department of Oriental Studies operates.\u00a0 The Humanitarian Institute, like other faculties and institutes of NSU, builds its activities in close cooperation with the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.\u00a0 The most important partners of the Humanitarian Institute are the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, the Institute of History, the Institute of Philology, as well as the State Public Scientific and Technical Library.\u00a0 The Institute intensively cooperates with universities in China, Japan, North and South Korea, Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Canada, Turkey, and the USA.<\/p>\n

The Department of Oriental Studies at Novosibirsk State University was opened back in 1999. For 22 years of work, the staff of the department has increased to 40 people.\u00a0 The work is carried out in three language areas – Chinese, Korean and Japanese, two fields have been introduced – history and philology, which ensures a high rating of NSU students in the world labor market.<\/p>\n
