Global security and development are both the vision and the anchor of humankind. Deterioration of natural ecology, economic and social downturns, and tense international situations have led to a global decline in the sense of security. Nurturing ecological civilization, rebuilding social trust, and creating a safe environment for all human beings are pressing issues. From the perspective of the universal situation of humankind, higher education leaders have responsibilities to answer and fulfill the educational issues involved and to explore how higher education can lead society.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the delegation led by the Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Gulchekhra Rikhsieva, who is currently on a business trip to the People\u2019s Republic of China, is attending the \u201c11th World Women University Presidents Forum\u201d organized by the Communication University of China, Huanghe Science and Technology University and the Organizing Committee of the World Women University Presidents Forum (WWUPF). On May 26, G.Rikhsieva, and N.Imamova participated in the main plenary session of this forum with lectures on the topics \u201cIncreasing the quality of education in the conditions of sustainable development\u201d and \u201cThe role of openness of higher education in sustainable development\u201d respectively.<\/p>\n

For reference, the UN-backed WWUPF has successfully held ten major forums in China and eleven sub-forums forums around the world. Over the past 22 years, the forum has brought together about 1,900 women presidents. The World Women University Presidents Forum (WWUPF) was launched by Communication University of China (originally Beijing Broadcast Institute) in August 2001, aiming to pool the strength of women university presidents all over the world and to create an international platform for them to communicate and collaborate, and to share new ideas and thoughts in the fields of higher education development and women leadership promotion.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme of the forum is \u201cGlobal Security and Global Development: Responsibilities of Higher Education Leadership\u201d<\/p>\n
