In accordance with the priority tasks outlined in the resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan PQ\u20134680 \u201cOn measures to radically improve the system of personnel training in the field of Oriental Studies and enhance scientific potential\u201d and PQ\u20133598 \u201cOn the comprehensive study and promotion of the creative heritage of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayev,\u201d Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies continues to systematically organize scientific and educational events dedicated to the heritage of Eastern and Central Asian scholars.<\/p>\n

As part of this series of scholarly events, on 28 November 2025, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies hosted an academic meeting dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Ibrahim Kunanbay. During the event, a scientific lecture titled \u201cAbai Ibrahim Kunanbayuly \u2013 the spirit of Kazakh literature and thought\u201d was presented.<\/p>\n

The lecture was delivered by Derya Soysal, a researcher at the Free University of Brussels (Belgium) and a specialist in the history of Central Asian countries.<\/p>\n

The lecture focused on analyzing the role of Abai\u2019s legacy in contemporary research, his philosophical worldview, and his influence on the culture of related peoples.<\/p>\n

Sarsenbayev Serzhan Konratbayevich, Advisor to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan, attended the event as an honorary guest.<\/p>\n

The scientific meeting brought together university professors, doctoral students, researchers, and students. The lecture served as an important platform for exchanging views on the role of Abai\u2019s works in regional literary processes, spiritual revival, and the development of Kazakh\u2013Uzbek cultural relations.<\/p>\n

This academic event aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Primarily, it supports SDG 4 \u2013 \u201cQuality Education\u201d by expanding the scientific outlook of students, doctoral candidates, and researchers. By strengthening literary and cultural ties among Turkic peoples, the event contributes to SDG 10 \u2013 \u201cReduced Inequalities.\u201d Its role in promoting intercultural dialogue and diplomatic cooperation corresponds to SDG 16 \u2013 \u201cPeace, Justice and Strong Institutions.\u201d Furthermore, the event strengthens SDG 17 \u2013 \u201cPartnerships for the Goals\u201d through enhanced cooperation between the Free University of Brussels, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan, and TSUOS.<\/p>\n
