On August 30, 2026<\/strong>, the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi<\/strong>, visited the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies<\/strong> as part of his state visit. The distinguished guest’s visit to the university was a clear manifestation of the high attention paid to the academic cooperation between the two countries, including the significant achievements of the indology school established in Uzbekistan.<\/div>\n
As part of the visit itinerary, the Prime Minister of India familiarized himself with the activities of the Mahatma Gandhi Research Center for Indology under the university, as well as new books authored by Uzbek indologist scholars<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

As part of the visit itinerary, the Prime Minister of India closely familiarized himself with the activities of the Mahatma Gandhi Research Center for Indology under the university. At the meeting attended by students majoring in Indian language and literature, artistic performances representing the literary and cultural ties of the two countries were presented. Notably, Narendra Modi’s poems were translated into the Uzbek language and skillfully recited by the students in both Uzbek and Hindi.<\/div>\n

This historic visit will elevate the scientific and cultural relations between Uzbekistan and India to a new level and serve as a major milestone ahead of the 80th anniversary<\/strong> of the national school of indology, to be celebrated in 2027<\/strong>. In the future, it is planned to introduce new joint educational programs with leading Indian universities, teach the Sanskrit language, and implement international projects for young researchers.<\/div>\n

At the current stage, Uzbekistan\u2013India scientific and cultural cooperation is developing based on the harmonious integration of historical experience and modern academic relations. In this regard, Narendra Modi’s visit to TSUOS demonstrated that the historical scientific ties between the two nations are gaining new substance in today’s academic partnership.<\/div>\n
