16.2.1. ELECTED REPRESENTATION
Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) ensures inclusive, transparent, and participatory governance through elected representation of students, faculty, and staff on the university’s highest governing and advisory bodies. Representatives from all groups are formally elected according to internal regulations and serve as active members in shaping university policy, academic development, and community engagement.
Elected representatives at TSUOS include:
- Leader of the Youth Union – Elected annually by students to represent undergraduate and graduate voices in institutional and social initiatives.
- Leader of the Students’ Scientific Society – Elected each academic year by students of TSUOS to promote student research, academic initiatives, and participation in scientific events.
- Chairman of the Trade Union Committee – Elected by the university’s employees, including academic and administrative staff, to protect labor rights, improve working conditions, and coordinate social welfare activities.
- Chairperson of the Women’s Committee – Elected to advance gender equality, social support, and women’s professional development across the university.
- Chairman of the Young Scientists’ Council – Elected through open voting in accordance with the Council’s Charter (Article 3.2), representing early-career researchers and promoting innovation and academic excellence.
Through this system of regular and democratic elections, TSUOS guarantees representation from students (both undergraduate and graduate), faculty members, and non-faculty staff in decision-making processes. All elected bodies hold regular meetings and report to their constituencies, fostering accountability, transparency, and shared governance across the institution.
