Tourism and Dual Education — The Harmony of Theory and Practice
An important partnership has been established between Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and the prestigious JW Marriott Hotel Tashkent to introduce a dual education system in the field of Tourism and Hospitality. This initiative is being implemented within the framework of the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-269 dated July 18, 2024, “On Measures to Improve the Personnel Training System in the Tourism Sector.”
Today, there is a growing demand in the tourism and hospitality sector for highly qualified specialists with practical skills. It is important not only to provide theoretical knowledge during the educational process but also to combine it with practice, adapt students to real working environments, and train specialists who meet the demands of the modern labor market. In this regard, cooperation between higher education institutions and leading employers in the sector, as well as the introduction of a dual education system, is of great importance.
Based on this need, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and JW Marriott Hotel Tashkent. The memorandum was signed by the hotel’s General Director, Ilkin Vakil Ugli Imanov, and the Head of the Tourism Department, Ch. Khusanov. The document will serve as an important legal basis for integrating education with practical industry experience.
Within the framework of the cooperation, students will have the opportunity to complete internships at the hotel and become closely acquainted with reception services, customer service, restaurant operations, marketing, and management processes.
This will help develop their professional competencies, enrich their practical experience, and expand their future employment opportunities.
During the event, the hotel’s General Director, Ilkin Vakil Ugli Imanov, met with students and spoke about the hotel’s activities as well as his many years of professional experience. In addition, the hotel’s Chief Training Manager, Dmitry Sergeevich Sizykh, introduced students to the hotel’s history, international standing, and branches, and organized a practical экскурсия throughout the hotel.
This practical and meaningful meeting became an important step in the professional development of future specialists and further increased their interest in the field.
