Uzbekistan-India: Developing Cooperation
The Uzbek and Indian peoples are bound by historical and cultural commonalities, and at the same time there is a solid foundation for developing a strategic partnership and intensifying mutually beneficial cooperation in many areas.
India and Uzbekistan are key partners in ensuring security and stability in the region. Cooperation has been established at the inter-ministerial level in the fight against terrorism, international crime and other threats to national security, as well as the prevention of drug trafficking. The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Pulat Bobojonov visited India on November 20-22, 2019. During the visit, consultations were held with the Indian side and an agreement was signed between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and India on cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime and international terrorism. The agreement also provides for cooperation in the field of training. Bilateral defense cooperation has reached a new level.
The conference aims to renew historical ties between Central and South Asia. Its main goal is to create a solid foundation for close cooperation between the Central and South Asian regions, which will define specific projects of a strategic nature.
Today, Uzbekistan sees India as a reliable partner in further developing trade and economic relations and strengthening stability in the region. For its part, India seeks to take bilateral cooperation to new levels, recognizing the new approach of the Uzbek leadership and its domestic and foreign policies based on active cooperation and good neighborliness.
