Doctoral studies
MAIN REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO DOCTORAL STUDIES, BASIC DOCTORAL STUDIES AND INDEPENDENT RESEARCH AT TASHKENT STATE UNIVERSITY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES
Admission to doctoral studies, basic doctoral studies, and independent research at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies is carried out through the Unified Electronic System for Coordination of Postgraduate Education at: https://daraja.ilmiy.uz/
Applicants to postgraduate education must hold a Master’s degree or a higher education diploma obtained under specialist programs (prior to 1997). Holders of the academic degree of Candidate of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), or equivalent foreign academic degrees must have a specialization corresponding to the relevant field of postgraduate education.
If the fields of study do not correspond, or if the applicant plans to obtain an academic degree in a related field, the applicant must pass additional examinations in subjects determined by the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan (hereinafter referred to as HAC).
Admission to Doctoral Studies (DSc)
The following individuals are eligible for admission:
- Holders of the academic degree of Candidate of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), or equivalent foreign academic degrees;
- Individuals who, after obtaining the degree of Candidate of Sciences or PhD (or equivalent degree), have achieved significant scientific accomplishments, including:
At least three scientific articles published in recognized scientific journals that may serve as the basis for a doctoral (DSc) dissertation;
At least two abstracts (theses) published in proceedings of scientific-practical conferences, seminars, or collections of scientific works in the relevant field.
Required Documents for Doctoral Studies:
- Curriculum Vitae (biographical information);
- Copy of higher education diploma and diploma confirming Candidate of Sciences, PhD, or equivalent foreign degree;
- Scientific report on the research topic and a detailed draft plan of the doctoral (DSc) dissertation;
- List of published scientific works (at least three journal articles and two conference abstracts) with copies;
- Copies of published scientific works.
Admission to Basic Doctoral Studies (PhD)
The following individuals are eligible:
- Holders of a Master’s degree or higher education diploma (specialist program);
- Individuals who possess scientific results that may serve as the basis for a PhD dissertation, including:
At least one scientific article published in a recognized scientific journal;
At least two abstracts published in collections of scientific works in the relevant field.
Required Documents for Basic Doctoral Studies:
- Curriculum Vitae;
- List of published scientific works (at least one journal article and at least two conference abstracts) with copies;
- Copy of relevant document for holders of the Presidential State Scholarship of the Republic of Uzbekistan (if applicable);
- Foreign language proficiency certificate.
Independent Research for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The following individuals may apply:
- Holders of a Master’s degree or higher education diploma in the relevant specialty;
- Individuals with the required scientific publications.
An applicant for independent research must meet the following requirements:
Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or the academic degree of Candidate of Sciences, or a higher education diploma obtained prior to the introduction of the Master’s degree (for Independent Researcher (DSc) – diploma confirming Candidate of Sciences degree);
Have specific scientific achievements that may serve as the basis for a doctoral dissertation, including:
At least one scientific article published in recognized journals (for Independent Researcher (DSc) – at least three articles);
At least two abstracts published in proceedings of scientific or scientific-practical conferences, seminars, roundtables, or collections of scientific works in the relevant field.
Required Documents for Independent Research:
- Reference letter from the workplace;
- Information statement (certificate);
- Electronic copies of scientific works.
Applicants admitted to postgraduate education must hold a Master’s degree or higher education diploma (specialist program prior to 1997). Holders of Candidate of Sciences, PhD, or equivalent foreign academic degrees must have a specialization corresponding to the relevant field of postgraduate education.
If the fields do not correspond or if the applicant intends to obtain a degree in a related field, additional examinations in subjects determined by the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan must be passed.
