Scientific and practical conference “Monuments of Buddhism – a new direction in the development of pilgrim tourism.”
On June 12, 2021, a scientific and practical conference on the topic “Monuments of Buddhism – a new direction in the development of pilgrim tourism” was held at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
This scientific conference was organized to discuss the results of the innovative project “Creation of 3D-models of tourist routes of Buddhist monuments in the regions of the republic”, implemented within the framework of state scientific programs at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
The conference was devoted to the scientific and theoretical aspects of the development of new directions of tourism in Uzbekistan; history of Buddhism and research in this area; the world experience of organizing Buddhist monuments and pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan and the possibilities of its use in our country, as well as the importance of integration into the international tourism market, were discussed in detail.
The total cost of the innovative project “Creation of 3D models of tourist routes of Buddhist monuments in the regions of the country”, which began work in the summer of 2020, is 2 billion soums. The next stage is aimed at developing aspects of the project that will be directly implemented in practice.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has repeatedly stated that science and education should be the backbone of the development of our republic. In this regard, the implementation of research projects and the introduction of their results into the educational process remains one of the priorities of the Tashkent State Oriental University. In particular, the implementation of fundamental, applied and innovative scientific projects in the humanitarian sphere will serve as a factor in the socio-political, economic, spiritual and cultural development of Uzbekistan, further strengthening ties with foreign countries.
As a result of scientific research carried out by professors and teachers of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies for 2 years, 97 monographs, 63 textbooks and 183 textbooks have been published. Also, 361 articles were published in foreign journals, including in highly rated scientific publications, and 392 articles in national journals. In addition, 7 certificates were obtained for programs in the field of information and communication technologies, various materials protected by copyright.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the scientific conference, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.A. Abdukhakimov noted that the topic of the conference and the issues discussed today are very relevant and important for the development of our country. At the same time, he expressed confidence that the decisions and comments on the results of the conference will serve to further strengthen efforts to develop pilgrim tourism in Uzbekistan and train specialists in this area.
Rector of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies G. Rikhsieva expressed gratitude for participation in the opening ceremony of the conference of prominent scientists and specialists, noting that Uzbekistan pays great attention to increasing the flow of tourists, organizing various meetings, conferences and exhibitions. She noted that over the past period, a number of measures are being taken in Uzbekistan to develop the segment of pilgrim tourism and increase its share in the export of tourism services. At the same time, she noted the need to take practical measures to diversify the structure of tourist services in Uzbekistan and develop new directions of tourism.
