On March 4, 2026, the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies was visited by Thom Kiddle, Director of one of the United Kingdom’s prestigious language education centers — the Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE). During the visit, negotiations were held between the university leadership and NILE representatives regarding priority areas and practical mechanisms for developing bilateral cooperation.

The meeting focused on professional development of academic staff, organization of short-term training courses, integration of artificial intelligence technologies into language teaching, and implementation of joint research projects. Thom Kiddle provided detailed information about NILE’s modern methodological approaches, innovative educational programs, and international experience.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to organize professional development courses for TSUOS faculty members on a special discount basis. According to the agreement, a separate group will be formed for university representatives, and they will be exempt from the registration fee, which is normally mandatory for all participants. These benefits aim to support faculty members’ professional growth in line with international standards.

Furthermore, within the framework of cooperation, TSUOS faculty and students were granted free access to the NILE library. This will enable them to utilize the latest scientific and methodological literature and educational resources directly in the teaching process, contributing to improved instructional quality and integration of advanced international practices.

In addition, in light of the resumption of participation of UK higher education institutions in the Erasmus+ programme from January 2027, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in this area as well. The programme is expected to provide TSUOS faculty and students with opportunities for short-term academic exchanges, professional development, and experience sharing.
This visit and the agreements reached represent an important step toward expanding the university’s international cooperation network, enhancing educational quality, and strengthening its competitiveness in the global academic arena.
