Department of Tourism
In the 2024-2025 academic year, 12 professors are working at the department of Tourism. 1 of them is a doctor of science professor, 5 are associate professors (4 are candidates of science, 1 is PhD), 2 are senior teachers, 2 are teachers, 2 are intern teachers. The scientific potential of the department is 50%. In the department, 61010100 – “Tourism and Hospitality”, 61010400 – “Tourism (international tourism)”, 61010400 – “Tourism (with Eastern languages in terms of activity)”, educational directions and 71010101 – “Tourism and hospitality”, 71010401 – “Tourism (international tourism)” specialties are available. The Department of Tourism Theory and Practice, Standardization and Certification in Tourism and Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hotel Management, Basics of International Tourism, Marketing in International Tourism, Planning and Forecasting in Tourism, World Pilgrimage Tourism Industry, Tourism Economy, Smart Tourism, Foreign Eastern Countries Tourism, Activities of tour operators and travel agencies, Innovations in tourism, Transportation in tourism, Entrepreneurship in tourism and hospitality, Market of tourism services, Geoinformation systems in tourism, International hotel business, Security in tourism, Diversification in tourism, Innovative activities in tourism are taught.
Students of the department are participants of a number of international and well-known state scholarships, Rector’s scholarship named after Ogahi, a scholarship provided by the Japanese organization “Mitsubishi Corporation”. Our students study Eastern and Western languages in addition to tourism subjects, and do internships in prestigious tourist companies and enterprises of our republic. Also, students, graduate students and researchers are doing long and short-term internships in foreign countries.
