Seminar for Professors
On November 20, 2024, senior lecturers Aziza Nishanbaeva and Bekhzod Djafarov from the Higher School of Iranian and Afghan Studies at TSUOS organized a professional seminar for the academic staff of the Institute of Languages and Literature of Eastern Peoples on SDG 4: “Quality Education.” The seminar was titled:
“Guidelines for Developing Language Tests Based on CEFR Standards for Eastern Languages”.
The main objective of the seminar was to enhance the effectiveness of assessing students’ listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
As a result of the seminar, professors became familiar with various test formats that align with CEFR requirements. They analyzed which types of tasks best assess specific language skills and how these formats can be appropriately applied. Additionally, the instructors explored strategies for developing level-appropriate test items tailored to the unique structures of Eastern languages.
The seminar featured active discussions, during which participants exchanged practical recommendations on improving teaching quality, particularly in enhancing and evaluating the four core language competencies in Eastern language education.
