Objectives and Functions of the Center

The main objectives of the Center are as follows:

– To conduct comprehensive scientific research on Malaysia’s culture, history, literature, economy, politics, and the Malay language, and to study Uzbekistan–Malaysia relations to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

– To train scientific and pedagogical specialists in the Malay language, carry out joint research with local and Malaysian partners, and prepare scientific projects, dissertations, monographs, and academic articles.

– To conduct comparative studies on the linguistic situation, languages, and cultures of Malaysia and Uzbekistan, and to promote both nations’ languages and cultures worldwide through educational applications.

– To analyze Malay studies and the activities of Malaysia’s leading universities and research centers, and to develop curriculum improvement recommendations for courses in language, literature, history, economics, and political science based on modern educational trends.

– To translate and publish works related to Malaysia’s culture, history, literature, economy, politics, and Malay language into Uzbek, and vice versa, in order to promote both countries’ values and national heritage internationally.

– To organize academic conferences, seminars, and round-table discussions at various levels in cooperation with Malaysia’s universities, research centers, and international organizations on the development and prospects of Malay studies.

– To improve the qualifications of teachers and researchers through seminars, workshops, and scientific meetings.

– To regularly publish research results of the Center in internationally indexed journals (such as Scopus and Web of Science), as well as in national and university publications.

– To organize “Academic Writing Skills” courses for teachers, doctoral students, and independent researchers engaged in scientific activity in Uzbekistan.

– To involve leading Malay studies scholars from Uzbekistan and Malaysia in the Center’s work.

– To actively participate in training a new generation of Malay specialists capable of conducting analytical research in Malay culture, history, literature, economy, politics, and language.

– To develop startup and innovative projects jointly with talented students, master’s and doctoral researchers, and organize seminars and project presentations in collaboration with Malaysia’s leading research institutions and universities.

– To monitor and ensure the timely implementation of Malay studies research projects conducted at the university.

In accordance with its objectives, the Center performs the following functions:

– Conducts research projects in line with the university’s scientific agenda and the Center’s annual work plan.

– Organizes seminars, discussions, and conferences on current issues in Malay studies.

– Prepares analytical articles and reports to disseminate research results to the wider public.

– Cooperates with foreign experts in developing academic courses and educational materials.

– Participates in other analytical projects consistent with the university’s mission and objectives.

– Engages professors, students, researchers, graduate students, as well as representatives of government bodies, analytical centers, scientific institutions, and foreign experts in the Center’s activities.

– Coordinates bachelor’s theses, master’s and doctoral dissertations, and other research projects related to Malaysia’s culture, history, literature, economy, politics, and the Malay language in collaboration with relevant university departments.

– Develops proposals for adopting and implementing advanced international research practices in the study of Malaysia’s culture, history, literature, economy, politics, and language.

– Contributes to strengthening Uzbekistan–Malaysia relations through in-depth academic research in Malaysian studies.

– Prepares and publishes materials on various aspects and pressing issues of Malay studies.
