Advancing Scientific Cooperation: Visit of the Altai State University Delegation to TSUOS
On March 26, 2026, a delegation led by Yuliya Aleksandrovna Lysenko, Director of the “Greater Altai” Research and Educational Center for Altaic and Turkic Studies, visited the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
During the meeting, representatives of Altai State University of the Russian Federation and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies discussed issues related to the development of academic and scientific cooperation. Several key initiatives were proposed:
1. Sending TSUOS Turkologists to Altai State University under academic exchange programs;
2. Involving students and young researchers in summer schools;
3. Conducting joint research and projects in the field of Turkic studies;
4. Joint study of historical Turkic sites in the Altai Republic;
5. Co-organization of scientific conferences, seminars, and roundtable discussions.
The parties also discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in Turkology, including joint projects on studying historical Turkic sites in the Altai Republic. Agreements were reached on academic exchanges, participation in summer schools, and implementation of joint research projects.
The delegation conveyed warm greetings from Rector Sergey Nikolayevich and proposed attracting Uzbek students to study in Altai.
Several concrete agreements were achieved:
• involvement of Altai State University students in TSUOS academic programs;
• establishment of student exchange programs between the two universities;
• co-publication of Volume III of books within Altai State University projects and translation of previous volumes into Uzbek;
• confirmation of Altai State University as an official partner in international conferences hosted by TSUOS.
Within the framework of the “Greater Altai” project, the following were agreed:
— engagement of TSUOS faculty members as experts;
— organization of free summer expeditions for TSUOS students;
— regular promotion of TSUOS Turkology research on Altai State University and “Greater Altai” platforms;
— translation and dissemination of “Greater Altai” project materials into Uzbek.
This meeting will contribute to elevating the strategic partnership between TSUOS and Altai State University to a new level.
