22.09.2025, 10:38 News 322

Rishton, one of the most ancient and unique cities of the Fergana Valley, once again showcased its rich historical heritage and significant role in the field of applied arts. On September 20–21, 2025, it hosted the 2nd International Pottery Forum.

This prominent event gathered not only academic representatives but also numerous enthusiasts of art, culture, and travel. Renowned potters, artisans, art historians, and tourists from various countries around the world took part in the forum. Among the active participants were representatives of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

The main purpose of participation by professors and talented students from the university’s Department of Tourism was to explore the potential of traditional pottery art in the field of tourism, as well as to enrich their practical knowledge and professional experience.

In addition, the faculty members conducted research aimed at collecting and analyzing information on topics such as local craftsmanship, regional tourism, and the appeal of national heritage, with the goal of continuing their scientific studies in these important areas.

The students conducted interviews with various forum attendees — including artisans, scholars, and tourists from Eastern countries and distant foreign nations. Through these conversations, they gathered participants’ impressions of the forum, as well as their thoughts and reflections on cultural heritage and the art of pottery.

These interviews enabled the students not only to explore the interest of foreign participants in Uzbekistan and the Rishton pottery tradition, but also to contribute to the development of cultural diplomacy and strengthen research efforts in the field of tourism.

Moreover, the experience served to enhance the students’ foreign language skills and broaden their knowledge in areas such as traditional craftsmanship and cultural tourism.
