Functions and Objectives of the Center

The main objectives of the Center are as follows:

– To strengthen bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Japan within the framework of cultural exchange by implementing joint initiatives, training scientific and pedagogical staff, and conducting research projects in cooperation with local and foreign partners.

– To conduct comprehensive academic studies on literary, historical, and philosophical works in Uzbek and Japanese languages, and to promote Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage and values internationally.

– To organize scientific conferences, seminars, workshops, and round-table discussions at various levels within the framework of Uzbekistan–Japan cultural exchange.

– To regularly publish materials introducing the Center’s activities and disseminate research outcomes through university and national publications.

– To organize Japanese language courses (A1–C1 levels) for students of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and other educational institutions, conduct proficiency tests, and assist students in obtaining national and international certificates.

– To hold “Japanese Culture Days” at the university and ensure media coverage of these events.

– To provide practical assistance in translating major works of prominent Uzbek and Japanese literary figures, as well as popular films and cartoons.

– To engage leading orientalists and researchers from Uzbekistan and abroad in the Center’s activities.

– To collaborate with talented students, master’s, and doctoral researchers in developing startup and innovative projects, establish close cooperation with institutions of both Uzbekistan and Japan, and organize seminars and project presentations.

In line with its objectives, the Center performs the following functions:

– Conducts research activities based on the university’s scientific agenda and the Center’s work plan.

– Organizes seminars, discussions, and conferences on current issues related to Uzbekistan and Japan.

– Facilitates internship and practical training opportunities for students in Japan through cooperation with partner universities and educational institutions, and assists in signing collaboration agreements with new organizations.

– Organizes “Welcome to Japan” workshops conducted by Japanese specialists for students preparing for internships in Japan, and provides practical support in preparing and translating travel-related documents.

– Prepares analytical articles and reports to share research findings with the wider public in accordance with the university and Center’s approved plans.

– Collaborates with foreign experts in developing academic courses and educational materials.

– Participates in other analytical projects aligned with the goals and mission of the university.

– Involves university professors, students, researchers, graduates, as well as representatives of government institutions, analytical centers, research organizations, and foreign experts in the Center’s initiatives.
