An international scientific and practical conference was held at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) on the theme: “Descendants of Alp Er Tunga – The Karakhanids: The Turkic World and the Islamic World during the Karakhanid Era”
On October 16, 2025, an international scientific and practical conference was held at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) on the theme: “Descendants of Alp Er Tunga – The Karakhanids: The Turkic World and the Islamic World during the Karakhanid Era.”
This prestigious academic event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Tashkent International University, and the National Media Association of Uzbekistan.
The conference was attended by Professor Gulchehra Rikhsiyeva, Rector of TSUOS; Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States; Kongirotboy Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan; Sultan Raev, Secretary-General of TURKSOY; Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Academy; Sherzodkhon Qudratkhoja, Head of the National Media Association of Uzbekistan; as well as heads of institutes of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, rectors of higher education institutions, representatives of more than 50 universities from the Union of Turkic Universities, and over 100 scholars — historians, orientalists, Turkologists, philologists, and literary researchers.
Within the framework of the program, sessions were organized in the following academic areas:
• The history, statehood, and governance of the Karakhanid era;
• Science and culture during the Karakhanid period;
• The role of the Karakhanids in the formation of Turkic-Islamic culture;
• Language and literature in the Karakhanid era;
• Current issues in studying Yusuf Khos Hojib’s work “Qutadg‘u Bilig.”
In addition, a roundtable discussion was held on the topic “Developing the Tabarruk Ziyorat Project and the Heritage of Alp Er Tunga”
