The holiday “Shab-e Yalda” at TSUOS
On December 20, 2021, the ancient Persian holiday “Shab-e Yalda” was celebrated at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies by the Department of Iran-Afghan Philology, Faculty of Oriental Philology and Translation Studies.
The event was attended by the Consul of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Uzbekistan Morteza Bagheri. At the event, students have demonstrated samples of Persian and Uzbek poetry, dances, songs, the performance named “Shab-e Yalda”.
*”Shab-e Yalda” is an annual widely celebrated holiday in Iran, where poetry evenings are held. According to the Gregorian calendar, the night from December 20 to December 21 falls on the longest night of the year.
