At the beginning of the meeting, Akif Marifli expressed his gratitude to the university leadership for the warm reception and proposed organizing a joint scientific conference in the field of Turkology on April 6 of this year. He noted that if the initiative is supported, he is ready to begin the necessary organizational work related to holding the conference.

For reference: On April 7, 2026, at the initiative of Baku Slavic University, an International Conference on Turkological Studies dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress is planned to be held.

During the meeting, the proposal previously put forward by the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies to establish the “Uzbek Culture Center” at Baku State University was also discussed. Akif Marifli supported this initiative and noted that Baku State University is ready to cooperate in this direction.

In addition, readiness was expressed to assist in attracting a qualified specialist in order to resume the teaching of the Azerbaijani language at the university starting from the 2026/2027 academic year. Relevant documents of the candidate were also presented.

For reference: Baku State University was founded in 1919 and is one of the leading higher education institutions in Azerbaijan. Currently, more than 26,000 students study at the university, and educational and scientific activities are carried out through 16 faculties.

At the end of the meeting, Akif Marifli invited representatives of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies to take part in a ceremonial event dedicated to the Navruz holiday, which will be held on March 17 at 15:30 at the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Uzbekistan.

It was also emphasized that in order to systematically organize lectures by Azerbaijani professors and lecturers, it is important to provide information in advance about the dates of their visits and the topics of their lectures.

It was also noted that if a separate room is allocated at Baku State University for establishing the “Uzbek Culture Center,” it would be possible to equip it with the necessary facilities and decorate it in a way that reflects the cultural environment of Uzbekistan.
