Researcher and source studies specialist from the University of Pisa (Italy), Matteo Cecchetti, has been undergoing a professional development program at the Department of History of the Peoples of Central Asia of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) since October 20, 2025, within the framework of the Erasmus+ ICM (International Credit Mobility) program.

During the professional development process, the researcher was introduced to the department’s scientific potential, academic staff, as well as its educational and research activities. In addition, he was provided access to the university library’s source collection, particularly to ancient materials related to the history and culture of Central Asia.

At the department, Senior Lecturer Isobek Khudoynazarov was assigned as the researcher’s advisor (tutor). Based on Matteo Cecchetti’s academic specialization and research topic, a special academic schedule was developed to involve him as an observer in relevant courses within the department’s curriculum.
During the initial stage of his professional development, Matteo Cecchetti regularly attended and observed the following classes:

  • Historical Diplomatics – Master’s program;
  • History of Statehood in Central Asia – Bachelor’s program;
  • Source Studies of Central Asian History – Bachelor’s program.

Participation in these courses has helped the researcher expand his academic understanding of Central Asian historiography and source studies, as well as enrich his experience in applying source analysis methods and studying the historical and ideological heritage of the region.
