Analysis of Global Issues: An Open Lesson on SDG 1– SDG 2
An open lesson was held by Sobirova Guzaloy, an English language instructor from the Department of Western Languages at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, with third-year students of the Japanese Philology program at the Faculty of Japanese Studies. The lesson was dedicated to Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 2 set by the United Nations — “No Poverty” and “Zero Hunger.”
The session focused on discussing urgent global challenges such as social inequality, food security, equal access to resources, and poverty eradication, all within the context of the English language. Throughout the lesson, students not only became more familiar with the UN goals but also had the opportunity to develop their skills in expressing viewpoints, exchanging ideas, and applying analytical thinking to real-world situations — all in English.
Such open lessons play a vital role not only in strengthening students’ theoretical and practical knowledge of the English language, but also in shaping them into well-rounded professionals equipped with modern knowledge and a strong sense of global responsibility.
