Regulations concerning requirements for Master’s Degree
The Master’s Programmes Department of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) is responsible for organising and coordinating Master’s degree education in accordance with the legislation and regulatory framework of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Department carries out its activities in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Education”, the Regulations on Master’s Degree Education, approved by Resolution No. 36 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2015, Resolution No. PQ-3775 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 5 June 2018 “On Additional Measures to Improve the Quality of Education in Higher Educational Institutions and Ensure Their Active Participation in the Large-Scale Reforms Being Implemented in the Country”, and Resolution No. PQ-4680 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 16 April 2020 “On Measures to Fundamentally Improve the System of Personnel Training and Enhance Scientific Potential in the Field of Oriental Studies.”
The Department also ensures the implementation of the tasks stipulated in the relevant annex to Resolution No. PQ-4680, Order No. 265 of the Ministry dated 18 April 2020, and Order No. 275 of the Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies dated 20 April 2020 concerning the development and organisation of Master’s degree education.
Admission to Master’s programmes is aimed at graduates of higher education institutions who demonstrate strong research, academic, pedagogical and innovative potential, creative thinking, and management and leadership abilities.
The preparation of Master’s degree specialists takes into account the needs and requirements of national and international higher education institutions, academic departments, research institutes, research centres, foundations and other institutions, as well as enterprises and companies operating both in Uzbekistan and abroad, international organisations and government agencies.
Main Responsibilities of the Department
In cooperation with the University’s faculties and academic departments, the Master’s Programmes Department:
- organises and coordinates the educational process for the training of highly qualified Master’s degree specialists;
- supports quality assurance and monitors the quality of teaching and learning provided to Master’s students;
- coordinates educational, academic and research activities undertaken by Master’s students;
- coordinates and monitors the activities of the University’s structural units involved in Master’s degree education;
- regularly monitors the academic progress of Master’s students and their subsequent employment;
- analyses matters relating to the training of Master’s degree specialists and prepares regular reports on the results achieved.
Master’s Degree Education at TSUOS
Currently, 456 students are enrolled in 19 Master’s degree specialisations at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. Of these, 201 are first-year students and 255 are second-year students.
The Master’s programmes are delivered by highly qualified academic staff, including more than 30 Doctors of Science, more than 70 Candidates of Science and PhD holders and Associate Professors, as well as more than 10 highly qualified international specialists.
In the 2025–2026 academic year, 201 Master’s students across 19 specialisations are expected to graduate from Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
Appropriate orders of the Rector of TSUOS have been issued to ensure that the State Attestation procedures, which constitute an important and responsible stage of Master’s degree education, are organised and conducted effectively and in accordance with established requirements. All activities in this area are aimed at ensuring the successful completion of the academic year.
The demand for highly qualified specialists in Oriental Studies trained at TSUOS continues to increase both in Uzbekistan and internationally.
