Rustam Mamajonov, a second-year doctoral researcher at the Department of History and Anthropology of Eastern Countries at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS), has commenced his research activities at the Department of Japanese Studies of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Hungary under the Erasmus+ academic mobility programme.

On 6 October 2026, the doctoral researcher met with Professor Balázs Szabó, Head of the Department of Japanese Studies at ELTE. During the meeting, they discussed the key areas of his dissertation research, prospects for scientific collaboration, and the tasks to be undertaken within the framework of the academic mobility programme.

The meeting also covered opportunities to access the university’s research and digital library collections, including rare academic sources, monographs, and contemporary studies on the history of Japan in the 19th and 20th centuries.

As part of the academic mobility programme, Rustam Mamajonov also delivered a lecture to Hungarian students on Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage, national values, contemporary development, and the academic and educational potential of TSUOS.

This visit contributes to the integration of young researchers into the international academic community, the promotion of Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage abroad, and the further development of academic cooperation between TSUOS and European universities.
