Report on the activities carried out by TSUOS trade union to support students and faculty members
Report on the activities carried out in 2025 regarding the implementation of the Collective Agreement on social protection and labor safety of university professors, teachers, employees, and students by the Trade Union Committee of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies
In the activities of the Trade Union Committee of TSUOS, based on the written application of an employee, unpaid leave may be granted to them, and its duration is determined according to the agreement between the employee and the employer, but it must not exceed three months, either continuously or cumulatively, within a calendar year from the date of the last granted unpaid leave. In 2025, a total of 48 professors, teachers, and employees were granted unpaid leave.
Within the framework of social protection and provision of financial assistance, based on the decision and recommendation of the university trade union committee presidium, in 2025 the university administration allocated financial assistance from extra-budgetary funds in the amount of 231,192,304 UZS to 66 professors, teachers, and employees for family circumstances, holding weddings and ceremonies, health recovery, and purchasing medicines.
Due to difficult family conditions, death of parents, low-income status, and disability, a total of 6 students were allocated financial assistance in the amount of 21,750,966 UZS from extra-budgetary funds.
For the 2025/2026 academic year, admission to the full-time bachelor’s program of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies was planned within a quota of 875 places (including 740 Uzbek group and 135 Russian group). According to the test results records of the Agency for the Assessment of Knowledge and Skills for the 2025/2026 academic year, 1,150 applicants (including 974 Uzbek group and 176 Russian group) were recommended for admission as students.
In addition to the admission quota for the full-time bachelor’s program of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, 251 applicants were recommended for admission “on the basis of privileges.” In particular, 5 applicants who are true orphans and graduates of “Orphanage” and Children’s Towns were admitted based on additional state grants, 18 applicants from families included in the poverty register, 17 persons with disabilities admitted based on additional state grants allocated for persons with disabilities, as well as 77 girls admitted based on recommendations provided to support women, and they were enrolled as students at the university.
During the academic year, due to achieving high results and active participation in competitions held at the university, city, and republic levels, as well as involvement in volunteer activities in political events and public works, a total of 196,603,445 UZS was provided to university students as financial incentives.
The trade union committee fulfilled the following obligations it had undertaken regarding social benefits and guarantees:
– Financial assistance was provided to trade union members working at the university who are in need of social protection, low-income, and have large families. Based on the decision of the presidium of the university trade union committee, during 2025, financial assistance in the amount of 65,257,500 UZS was allocated to 113 teachers and employees from the funds of the trade union committee.
In accordance with the provisions specified in Chapter 9 of the Collective Agreement titled “Social Insurance. Social Benefits and Guarantees,” payments were made to employees registered with socially significant diseases depending on the period of payment of their state social insurance contributions (total work experience) – from 60 to 100 percent of their salary; for temporary disability certificates related to maternity and childbirth leave, depending on the employee’s work experience at the university – 50, 75, and 100 percent of salary; in other cases, depending on the employee’s total work experience – from 60 to 80 percent of salary.
In 2025, 65 professors, teachers, and employees of the university were sent to sanatoriums and recreational facilities located in various regions of the republic at the expense of the trade union committee and social insurance funds for the purpose of restoring their health and that of their family members and for отдых.
Due to their many years of effective work and family circumstances, on the occasion of November 11 – the Day of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, free vouchers were provided by the Tashkent City Council of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Uzbekistan, based on the recommendation of the university trade union committee, to Marguba Yuldasheva, Director of the Information Resource Center, and Malohat Eshimova, cleaner of the Technical Operation and хозяйство Department – to the Turon sanatorium; to guard Bahrom Zufarov – to the Botanika sanatorium; to Nafisa Ortiqova, cleaner of the хозяйство Department – to the Oqtosh sanatorium.
On the occasion of the Day of Persons with Disabilities, the university trade union organized a gala concert, as well as meaningful and interesting meetings and spiritual-educational events on various topics among workers and youth, with the involvement of well-known figures of science, literature, and art, literary scholars, and leading representatives of production, in order to implement state programs.
