TSUOS Tourism Working Group Explores Rishtan’s Tourism Potential within the “Weekend in Rishtan” Project
To further promote domestic tourism and raise awareness of Uzbekistan’s rich historical, cultural, and ceramic heritage, the Tourism Working Group of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies organized a visit to Rishtan district in the Fergana region under the slogan “Weekend in Rishtan.”
The visit was aimed at exploring the district’s tourism potential, promoting its cultural heritage sites, and attracting both domestic and international tourists to Rishtan. During the visit, members of the working group toured the pottery workshop of Tohir Haydarov, one of the distinguished representatives of the renowned Rishtan pottery school. The workshop is not only a center for producing traditional ceramic products but also a unique creative space that reflects the rich history, national identity, spiritual values, and cultural heritage of the Uzbek people.
The patterns, symbolic images, wise sayings, and poetic inscriptions embodied in the ceramic works showcase centuries of cultural experience and aesthetic traditions. Studying these artistic creations provides valuable insight not only into traditional craftsmanship but also into the essence of the nation’s cultural heritage.
The visit of the Tourism Working Group of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies marked an important step toward strengthening academic and practical cooperation, gaining a deeper understanding of Rishtan’s tourism opportunities, and promoting the district more actively in both national and international tourism markets. Rishtan is not only a center of pottery craftsmanship but also a place where history, culture, and national values come together harmoniously. Its rich heritage and tourism potential will continue to serve as important resources for the development of both domestic and international tourism.
