Prospects for Developing Scientific and Academic Cooperation between TSIU and Northwest University Discussed
Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies welcomed a delegation from one of the leading universities of the People’s Republic of China — Northwest University.
As part of the visit, a meeting was held to discuss the further development of scientific, academic, and cultural cooperation between the two universities, the implementation of new joint projects, and the identification of promising areas of collaboration.
During the discussions, particular attention was paid to the implementation of joint research projects in such areas as the history of Central Asia, anthropology, ethnology, cultural heritage, Silk Road studies, and historical source studies.
Representatives of TSIU put forward proposals to establish faculty exchange programs, organize joint international and academic conferences, and implement joint research projects. In this regard, representatives of Northwest University were invited to participate in the traditional Conference on Sinology, which TSIU plans to hold in Tashkent in November this year.
In turn, representatives of Northwest University invited around 20 scholars and specialists from TSIU specializing in Central Asian studies to participate in an international academic conference to be held at the university. It was emphasized that this initiative would further strengthen direct academic dialogue and the exchange of experience between researchers from the two universities.
As another important area of cooperation, the parties proposed that scholars from TSIU and Northwest University jointly apply for international research grant programs funded by the Government of China. The parties discussed prospects for making effective use of this opportunity and advancing joint research projects to international funding programs.
Furthermore, representatives of Northwest University proposed inviting TSIU specialists in Central Asian studies to China to deliver lectures, conduct seminars, and organize classes for students on the history, politics, and culture of Central Asia, as well as contemporary development processes in the region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the gradual implementation of initiatives such as the preparation of a joint academic journal and special publications under the cooperation between TSIU and Northwest University, as well as the organization of research expeditions, summer schools, conferences, and seminars.
During the meeting, the parties also exchanged contact details of responsible staff members and specialists to facilitate direct communication and agreed to maintain regular contact in order to coordinate practical activities in the agreed areas of cooperation.
The visit marked an important step toward bringing cooperation between TSIU and Northwest University to a new level — encompassing not only educational and academic exchange, but also joint research, international grants, conferences, and faculty mobility.
