TSUOS hosted a meeting with the delegation led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Uzbekistan
On 22 July 2025, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) hosted an official meeting with a delegation led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, the parties held comprehensive discussions on the prospects for further enhancing bilateral cooperation in higher education, science, academic exchange, and cultural and humanitarian relations.
Particular attention was paid to expanding inter-university cooperation, supporting education and research in the field of Indology, promoting academic mobility for faculty members and students, and developing joint educational programmes. The participants also discussed proposals to strengthen existing partnerships with leading Indian higher education institutions and to implement new joint initiatives.
The meeting also focused on expanding cooperation with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). In particular, the parties discussed the possibility of engaging qualified specialists from India to enhance the quality of Hindi language teaching at the university, improve Indology curricula, and further develop academic and research cooperation.
The participants also addressed the development of Hindi and Sanskrit language education, the training of highly qualified specialists in these fields, the enrichment of modern teaching and learning resources, and the further enhancement of the activities of the Mahatma Gandhi Indian Cultural Centre. The importance of enriching the Centre’s collection with new academic, educational, and literary publications, as well as strengthening cooperation to provide the university library with contemporary scholarly resources in the field of Indology, was also emphasized.
Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on promoting the rich historical and literary heritage of the Uzbek and Indian peoples, advancing translation activities, and implementing joint academic and cultural projects. They noted that such initiatives would contribute to strengthening cultural ties between the two nations, fostering mutual understanding, and elevating academic cooperation to a new level.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The Memorandum provides an important legal framework for expanding cooperation in education, science, academic exchange, the development of Indology, and cultural and humanitarian collaboration.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, increasing the number of joint practical initiatives, and enhancing ties between the higher education institutions of the two countries.
