Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies Holds Meeting with Representatives of Liaoning Normal University
A meeting was held at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) with a delegation from Liaoning Normal University of the People’s Republic of China. During the visit, important issues aimed at taking academic cooperation between the two universities to a new level, enriching the educational process with international experience, and creating new opportunities for students and young researchers were discussed.
The meeting focused on an exchange of views on five priority areas of cooperation.
1. Establishment of joint master’s degree programs
The parties paid particular attention to the establishment of joint educational programs at the master’s level. In this regard, related master’s specialties at TSUOS and Liaoning Normal University were reviewed, and promising areas of cooperation were identified.
In particular, it was noted that the TSUOS master’s specialty “International Relations and Contemporary Political Processes” is academically related to Liaoning Normal University’s “International Politics” program; “Regional Economics” corresponds to the “Regional Economics” program; and “Psychology” is related to the “Applied Psychology” program.
Based on these areas, the parties discussed prospects for developing joint master’s programs, coordinating curricula and academic programs, and creating opportunities for bilateral academic education for students.
2. Launch of a bilateral student internship program
During the meeting, an agreement was reached on launching a one-semester bilateral student internship program for students of TSUOS and Liaoning Normal University. Under the program, each university is expected to send its students to the partner university for a semester-long internship.
In particular, undergraduate students of TSUOS majoring in Chinese Studies will have the opportunity to undertake a semester-long internship at Liaoning Normal University, strengthen their practical Chinese language skills, deepen their knowledge of specialized subjects, and gain first-hand experience of China’s educational and cultural environment.
In turn, students from Liaoning Normal University will also have the opportunity to come to TSUOS for a semester-long internship.
The bilateral student internship program will contribute to strengthening academic and cultural exchange between students, enhancing their practical knowledge and skills, and further developing educational cooperation between the two universities.
3. Launch of student exchange programs
The parties also discussed the launch of student exchange programs between TSUOS and Liaoning Normal University.
Within the framework of these programs, it was proposed to facilitate the reciprocal exchange of students for participation in one-semester or short-term academic programs, expand their international academic experience, and provide opportunities to access the educational resources of both universities.
Student exchange was highlighted as an important academic opportunity, particularly for students studying Chinese language and literature, international relations, politics, and history.
4. Organization of joint international academic conferences
The organization of joint academic conferences, seminars, and academic forums was discussed as another important area of cooperation.
The parties considered opportunities to regularly organize academic events involving faculty members, researchers, and young scholars from both universities; exchange views on current academic issues; promote joint research; and disseminate research findings more widely within the international academic community.
5. Introduction of joint academic supervision at the doctoral level
The meeting also addressed the possibility of introducing a joint academic supervision system for doctoral students.
Within this framework, the parties discussed opportunities for professors and faculty members from both universities to jointly supervise doctoral research, exchange academic and methodological expertise, and implement joint research projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to further discuss these areas in detail with the relevant academic departments and to develop cooperation through concrete practical projects.
The visit marked an important step toward further developing academic ties between TSUOS and Liaoning Normal University, expanding opportunities for Chinese Studies students to study and undertake internships in China, and taking educational and scientific cooperation between the two universities to a new level.
