TSUOS Hosted a Meeting and Masterclass with International Islamic Scholar and Writer Kathleen Göbel

Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) hosted a masterclass titled “A Meeting with Kathleen Göbel and Book Launch,” featuring the Chair of the Board of the Association for International Cultural Cooperation, renowned Islamic scholar, writer, publicist, and translator Kathleen Göbel.

The event, held in the magnificent “Alisher Navoiy” hall at the university’s Confucius Institute, was attended by the TSUOS leadership, faculty members, young researchers, and students.

During the meeting, Kathleen Göbel shared insights from her long-standing academic and creative career, particularly focusing on Islamic culture, Eastern philosophy, and the promotion of intercultural dialogue.

The masterclass highlighted several key dimensions:
  • Islamic Studies and the Art of Translation: Unique approaches to translating classical Eastern literature and Islamic cultural sources into foreign languages;
  • Cultural Cooperation: Strengthening cultural ties on the global stage and promoting the ideas of tolerance and inclusivity;
  • Writing and Journalism: The craft of portraying traditional Eastern values within modern public relations and journalism


The event also featured the official launch of the author’s latest book. Kathleen Göbel elaborated on the background of the book, its core concepts, and its ultimate goals. The publication sparked great interest among both students and orientalist scholars.


The interactive session was held in an open and warm atmosphere, giving students the opportunity to get detailed answers to their questions. In conclusion, the participants emphasized the significance of further developing international cultural ties and continuing to organize such high-profile academic meetings.
