Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS), in collaboration with the Department of Tourism of the Institute of Foreign Policy and International Economic Relations and the travel company TripAsia, organised a practical meeting for students entitled “From Tourism Student to Industry Professional.”

The event, held in the university’s assembly hall, featured Zayniddin Umarov, Director of the travel company TripAsia.

The primary objective of the meeting was to bridge the gap between the theoretical knowledge of students pursuing studies in tourism and hospitality and practical industry experience, familiarise them with the current professional requirements of the tourism industry, and better prepare them for their future careers.

During the meeting, Zayniddin Umarov shared his professional experience in the tourism sector and discussed the specific aspects of travel company operations, the organisation of tourism services, and effective approaches to customer relations.

Particular attention was given to the professional competencies required for a successful career in the tourism industry, including proficiency in foreign languages, the use of modern information technologies, the development of communication skills, and the importance of maintaining high standards of customer service.

One of the key aspects of the meeting was explaining the connection between theoretical knowledge of tourism and real-world business practices. The discussion also helped students broaden their understanding of future career opportunities in the industry.

The meeting also addressed key issues related to entering the tourism workforce, opportunities for professional advancement, employers’ expectations of young specialists, and the development of a competitive workforce equipped to meet the demands of the labour market.

During the question-and-answer session, students had the opportunity to engage directly with the industry expert and exchange views on topics of interest. Discussions focused particularly on internship opportunities in tourism, starting a professional career, developing practical skills, and exploring future career prospects.

The event was particularly significant in strengthening the integration of education, science, and industry at the university, expanding cooperation with employers in the tourism sector, and enhancing students’ practical training.

Furthermore, meetings of this kind provide an important platform for broadening the professional outlook of future tourism specialists, fostering entrepreneurial thinking and initiative, adapting to labour market requirements, and developing a deeper understanding of contemporary trends in the tourism industry.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the importance of further strengthening cooperation between the university and representatives of the tourism industry was emphasised. The participants also highlighted the need to organise practical meetings, master classes, and career guidance activities for students on a regular basis.

The meeting, entitled “From Tourism Student to Industry Professional,” served as an important initiative to enhance students’ professional motivation, connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience, and prepare them for their future careers in the tourism sector.
