Main Tasks of the Center
- The principal tasks of the Center are as follows:
- To conduct comprehensive academic research on theoretical and practical issues of linguistics and to contribute to the further development of this field in the Republic of Uzbekistan;
- To train academic and teaching staff in the field of linguistic theory and practice and to conduct joint research with local and international partners, including the preparation of research projects, dissertations, monographs, and scholarly articles;
- To conduct comparative research on theories of different languages and to integrate research findings into the educational process, while promoting relevant scholarly achievements internationally;
- To analyze the experience of leading higher education institutions and research centers in Uzbekistan and abroad and, on this basis, develop recommendations for updating the content of undergraduate and graduate courses related to linguistic theory and practice;
- To translate and publish major works on linguistic theory and practice into Uzbek and, conversely, to translate works on the Uzbek language and Uzbek linguistic theory into foreign languages, thereby promoting the achievements and scholarly heritage of the national school of linguistics internationally;
- To organize academic conferences, seminars, and round-table discussions at various levels in cooperation with partner higher education institutions, research centers, and international organizations on the development, current state, and prospects of linguistic theory and practice;
- To enhance the professional and academic competence of faculty members and researchers through academic seminars, round-table discussions, conferences, and other scholarly events;
- To organize courses on the Fundamentals of Academic Writing for faculty members, doctoral researchers, and independent researchers engaged in academic research in Uzbekistan;
- To engage leading scholars from Uzbekistan and abroad in the academic and research activities of the Center;
- To develop start-up and innovative projects jointly with talented undergraduate and graduate students and doctoral researchers, as well as to organize academic seminars and project presentations in cooperation with higher education institutions;
- To monitor and facilitate the timely implementation of research projects carried out at the University in the field of linguistic theory.
Functions of the Center
- In accordance with its assigned tasks, the Center performs the following functions:
- Conducts research in accordance with the University’s research priorities and the approved work plan of the Center;
- Organizes seminars, round-table discussions, conferences, and other academic events on current issues of linguistic theory and practice;
- Prepares analytical articles and research reports based on the approved plans of the University and the Center in order to disseminate research findings to the academic community and the wider public;
- Participates in the development of academic courses, textbooks, teaching manuals, and other educational materials in cooperation with international specialists;
- Participates in other research and analytical projects consistent with the aims and objectives of the University;
- Engages University faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and international specialists in the activities of the Center;
- Coordinates, in cooperation with relevant academic departments, undergraduate theses, master’s and doctoral dissertations, research projects, and analytical studies in the field of linguistic theory and practice;
- Studies advanced international experience in research on linguistic theory and practice and develops proposals for its adaptation and implementation;
- Organizes two permanent academic seminars under the auspices of the Center for Linguistic Theory and Practice:
“Dissertation Topic Proposal: Formulating the Research Topic, Justifying Its Relevance, Research Novelty, Sources, and Data”;
“Presentation of the Research Findings of Dissertation Studies.”
