29.01.2020, 21:57 News 1656

On January 27, 2020, at the initiative of the Rector of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, Gulchehra Rixsiyeva and the Dean of the Faculty of Korean Studies, Shoira Usmanova, were organized “Tandem” classes at the Faculty of Korean Studies. This innovative course is attended by 7 students from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies of the Republic of Korea and 7 students studying in the joint programs of Sangmyong and Kyungdong of the Faculty of Korean Studies, a total of 14 students. What is a tandem? How are tandem classes done? The word “tandem” is derived from the German word meaning “a bicycle ridden by two people”. Tandem classes are different from regular classes. These lessons involve pairing in performing an activity or task. In tandem classes, Korean and Uzbek students work together. Classes are mostly conducted by students. The teacher gives the students independent work and tasks, and then supervises them. Independent work and assignments are given to fulfil directly at national cultural centers and city sights or other locations, and are presented in the form of presentations and essays. These courses not only increase students’ interest in the learning process, but also play an important role in shaping the concept of mutual understanding and cooperation between students of the two countries.
