Main Tasks of the Center
- The principal tasks of the Center are as follows:
- To facilitate the development and publication of Chinese-language textbooks, electronic textbooks, teaching manuals, and other educational materials for educational institutions in the Republic of Uzbekistan where Chinese language courses are offered;
- To study and improve Chinese-language textbooks, teaching manuals, and educational materials used in educational institutions in Uzbekistan from a methodological perspective, to train academic and teaching staff in this field, and to carry out educational and methodological activities in cooperation with local and international partners;
- To promote Uzbekistan’s national values and cultural heritage internationally through Chinese-language textbooks, electronic textbooks, teaching manuals, and other educational materials;
- To study and analyze Chinese-language textbooks developed in China for international learners and, in cooperation with higher education institutions of the People’s Republic of China, organize educational and methodological conferences, seminars, and round-table discussions at various levels;
- To develop methodological recommendations for courses related to the Chinese language, Chinese language teaching methodology, Chinese literature, history, and philosophy within undergraduate programmes in Chinese Philology and graduate programmes in Chinese Linguistics;
- To enhance the professional competence of teachers and researchers by organizing seminars, round-table discussions, academic conferences, and other events devoted to Chinese language teaching methodology;
- To monitor and facilitate the implementation of research projects devoted to the Chinese language, culture, and literature conducted at the University within the framework of state-funded research programmes;
- To regularly publish materials presenting the activities of the Center and its achievements in national and University publications;
- To engage leading Sinologists and Chinese-language specialists from Uzbekistan and abroad in the academic and educational activities of the Center;
- To develop start-up and innovative projects jointly with talented undergraduate and graduate students and doctoral researchers, establish close cooperation with higher education institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and organize educational and methodological seminars and project presentations.
Functions of the Center
- In accordance with its assigned tasks, the Center performs the following functions:
- Conducts research and educational-methodological activities in accordance with the University’s research priorities and the approved work plan of the Center;
- Organizes seminars, round-table discussions, conferences, and other academic events on relevant issues of Chinese language studies and Chinese language teaching methodology;
- Prepares analytical articles and reports based on the approved plans of the University and the Center in order to disseminate research findings and methodological developments to the academic community and the wider public;
- Participates in the development of academic courses, textbooks, teaching manuals, and other educational materials in cooperation with international specialists;
- Participates in other research, educational, and analytical projects consistent with the aims and objectives of the University.
