Main Tasks of the Center
The following constitute the principal tasks of the Center:
- To translate selected works of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur into Eastern and Western languages and facilitate their publication;
- To establish and develop academic cooperation with scholars of Babur studies working in Uzbekistan and abroad;
- To organize a presentation of the feature film The Birth of the Tiger, dedicated to the childhood of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur;
- To organize international and national scientific and practical conferences, as well as cultural and educational events, on the occasion of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur’s birthday;
- To organize academic competitions among undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students on such themes as “Experts on Babur’s Works” and “Understanding Babur”, and to recognize and reward the winners;
- To develop joint projects in cooperation with Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, the Babur International Public Foundation, specialists from the State Museum of the History of the Timurids, historians, and scholars specializing in Babur studies;
- To organize scholarly and creative meetings, round-table discussions, book presentations, and other events devoted to Babur’s intellectual and literary heritage with the aim of promoting it among a wider audience;
- To organize poetry gatherings, including bahr-u bayt competitions and mushaira, among students;
- To identify and recommend qualified candidates for the Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur State Scholarship;
- To identify, obtain, and study copies of Babur’s literary and scholarly heritage preserved in foreign collections, as well as rare manuscripts relating to his historical period, and to conduct research and publish scholarly monographs based on these materials.
Functions of the Center
In accordance with the tasks assigned to it, the Center performs the following functions:
- Conducts research in accordance with the University’s research priorities and the approved work plan of the Center;
- Organizes seminars, round-table discussions, conferences, and other academic events devoted to current issues in Babur studies;
- Prepares analytical articles and scholarly reports in order to disseminate research findings to the academic community and the wider public, in accordance with the approved plans of the University and the Center;
- Participates in other research and analytical projects that are consistent with the aims and objectives of the University;
- Engages University faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and doctoral candidates, as well as representatives of government institutions, analytical centers, research organizations, and international scholars and specialists in the activities of the Center;
- Contributes to the further development of Babur studies in Uzbekistan;
- Prepares research and analytical materials on various fields and current issues of Babur studies.
