Providing Access to Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture Knowledge
TSUOS promotes access to knowledge related to food security, nutrition, food culture and sustainable agriculture through open classes, international webinars, conferences and academic publications. These activities provide students, educators and other interested participants with opportunities to learn about food systems, nutrition, sustainable agricultural development and the cultural dimensions of food.
- Scientific Publications on Sustainable Agriculture: In addition to teaching, public events and applied research projects, TSUOS professors and researchers contribute to the academic dissemination of knowledge in the areas of food security, sustainable agriculture, agricultural development, natural resource management and related socio-economic issues. Their research findings are published in SCOPUS-indexed journals and other international and national scientific publications, providing access to evidence-based knowledge for researchers, students, policymakers and other stakeholders. These publications address issues such as agricultural productivity, food security, sustainable use of agricultural resources, agricultural trade and rural development, contributing to the wider exchange of knowledge and research-based approaches to sustainable food systems and agricultural development.
- Project No. AL-7823051503, “Digitalization Platform and Online Monitoring System in the Water Management Sector” by the professor of the Department of Economics and Management, TSUOS, Zebo Shokhujayeva. The research findings were published in a SCOPUS-indexed journal. In addition, she authored the methodological guide “WEF Nexus (Water–Energy–Food) tizimida ma’lumotlar bazasini shakllantirish, indikatorlar tizimini ishlab chiqish va integratsiyalashgan baholash usullari” (Methodological Guide on Database Formation, Development of an Indicator System and Integrated Assessment Methods within the Water–Energy–Food (WEF) Nexus System). The guide provides methodological approaches for developing databases, indicators and integrated assessment methods within the WEF Nexus framework, addressing the interconnections between water resources, energy and food systems.
- International Webinar on SDG 2 – “Social Protection of Students” (26 November 2024): The School of Iranian and Afghan Studies organized an international webinar within the framework of SDG 2: Zero Hunger, Food Security, Improved Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture. Professors and researchers from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Azad University in Iran and TSUOS delivered presentations, providing participants with knowledge and international perspectives related to food security, nutrition and social protection.
- Open Class on “Ethnic Cuisine and Food Culture” (7 November 2025): An open class was organized for second-year students, covering the historical development of national cuisines, food preparation practices and the ethnic characteristics of food culture among different peoples. Students also presented practical examples and visual materials, creating an interactive learning environment around food and nutrition culture.
- International Conference and Publication on Food and Nutrition Culture: TSUOS hosted an international conference in Tashkent on 27–30 September 2022, with the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) among the supporting institutions. Following the conference, the book Altay Communities: Food and Nutrition Culture was published, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge on food and nutrition culture across the Turkic world.
- Diploma work of master’s student Ruo Lyu, speciality of Foreign Economic Activity, with the title: “Econometric Modeling of the Impact of Agricultural Exports on Economic Growth”. The research examines the relationship between agricultural exports and economic growth and provides evidence-based knowledge on the development of the agricultural sector. The research findings are consistent with the export-led growth theory and highlight the importance of developing agricultural export systems, strengthening government support policies, and increasing productivity through modern technologies. The findings provide relevant knowledge for policymakers, agricultural stakeholders and food producers in developing effective strategies for agricultural development, improving productivity and supporting sustainable economic growth. Through its academic research activities, the university contributes to the dissemination of knowledge on agricultural development, productivity, modern technologies and sustainable agricultural practices, thereby supporting wider access to knowledge relevant to food security and sustainable agriculture.
Overall, these activities demonstrate the university’s role in disseminating knowledge on food security, nutrition, food culture and sustainable agricultural development through accessible educational and academic platforms.
