Associate Professor of the Higher School of Korean Studies Delivered a Presentation at the University of Sheffield, One of the Leading Research Universities in the United Kingdom

From 1 to 3 July 2026, The 24th Meeting of the International Circle of Korean Linguistics (ICKL 2026) was held at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. The conference was organized to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the International Circle of Korean Linguistics (ICKL) and brought together leading scholars, university faculty members, doctoral researchers, and early-career academics in the field of Korean linguistics from around the world. The central theme of the conference was “Variation and Diversity in Korean Linguistics.”

The conference was hosted by the University of Sheffield, one of the United Kingdom’s leading research universities. The university is a member of the Russell Group and is ranked 92nd in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2026.

Dr. Gulshoda Dilshadovna Yunusova, Associate Professor of the Higher School of Korean Studies at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, delivered a presentation in the Sociolinguistics & Discourse III session entitled “A Comparative Study of Desire and Wish Expressions in Korean and Uzbek.”

The conference program featured presentations on a wide range of contemporary research areas, including pragmatics, sociolinguistics, semantics, corpus linguistics, phonetics, phonology, syntax, natural language processing (NLP), computational linguistics, psycholinguistics, and language teaching methodology. Over the course of three days, participants attended keynote lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions, and scholarly discussions.
