A Meeting with Writers Held at TSUOS within the Framework of the “Sharing Enlightenment” Project
On September 24 of this year, a large-scale spiritual and educational event was held at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies as part of the “Ma’rifat Ulashib” project. The event aimed to enhance the spiritual development of young people, promote a culture of reading, and foster respect for national values.
The programme began at 10:00 a.m. with a tree-planting ceremony held in the university courtyard as part of the nationwide “Yashil Makon” (Green Space) project. Following the ceremony, the distinguished guests visited the university museum, where they familiarized themselves with the institution’s rich history and the traditions of its Oriental Studies school.
The main part of the event continued at the university’s Information and Resource Centre. The Rector of the University, Gulchehra Rikhsiyeva, delivered the opening remarks. In her speech, she highlighted the strong attention currently being paid to the education and upbringing of young people and emphasized the invaluable role of literature and enlightenment in personal development.
The event continued with speeches by Akhmadjon Meliboyev, Editor-in-Chief of the Jahon Adabiyoti (World Literature) journal; Alisher Mirzo, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan; and Nurilla Choriev, Editor-in-Chief of the Yoshlik journal. They shared their life and creative experiences with the students. The meeting featured sincere dialogue and an engaging question-and-answer session, during which students received detailed answers to their questions from the invited cultural figures.
The artistic programme provided students and guests with a true celebration of art, including:
- traditional melodies performed by the university’s “Dutorchilar” ensemble;
- heartfelt poetry performances by members of the “Mangu Bitik” literary circle;
- traditional songs performed by the “Sanduvoch” ensemble, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere for everyone.
The programme continued in the second half of the day. Starting at 2:00 p.m., renowned cultural figures, accompanied by university representatives, visited schools in the capital, where they participated in tree-planting initiatives and educational meetings. Writers and poets also read excerpts from their latest works.
This spiritual and educational event served as an important step towards broadening students’ horizons, strengthening their sense of national identity, and fostering a deeper appreciation for books and reading.
