Republican Conference on Topical Issues of Historical Source Studies and Historical Research Held at TSUOS
On June 4, 2026, the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies hosted the 18th Republican Traditional Scientific and Practical Conference entitled “Topical Issues of Historical Source Studies, Historiography, Methods and Methodology of Historical Research.”
The conference was dedicated to discussing current issues in historical scholarship, the study of historical sources, contemporary approaches in historiography, and the improvement of research methods and methodology. The event brought together leading scholars, academicians, professors, researchers, and educators from across the country.
During the conference, participants presented papers on a wide range of topics, including the study of historical sources, methodological foundations of historical science, foreign policy during the Timurid era, new interpretations of certain Central Asian coins bearing Sogdian inscriptions, historical-systematic approaches and research methods, the activities of representatives of the Jadid movement, representations of Central Asia in Western historiography, and the history of research on Sufism.
The conference concluded with a question-and-answer session and an exchange of views on the current state and future prospects of historical source studies, historiography, and the methods and methodology of historical research.
