International Conference at TSUOS: Islamic Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan and Its Role in World Science
On September 7–9, 2026, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) is hosting an international conference titled “Islamic Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan and Its Role in World Science”. Organized in cooperation with the Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations and Qatar University, this prestigious event aims to widely promote the country’s rich scientific and educational heritage on an international scale.
For centuries, ancient cities of our land such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Termez, and Tashkent have occupied a worthy place in world history as vital centers of intellect, enlightenment, and thought. Speaking at the opening ceremony, TSUOS Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Durbek Sayfullayev emphasized that it is not enough to merely acknowledge historical heritage; it is essential to re-examine sources, compare current scientific perspectives, and introduce previously unstudied materials into scientific discourse.
Furthermore, Ahmad bin Hassan Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, highly praised the scientific renaissance that flourished in Movarounnahr between the 9th and 15th centuries: “The algorithm founded by Al-Khwarizmi cannot be altered by time or space, and Ibn Sina’s discoveries in medicine have been serving humanity across centuries”.
The three-day conference brings together state and public figures, international experts, and Islamic scholars from both Uzbekistan and Qatar. Notable attendees include: Sodiq Safoev – First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of UWED; Bahromjon A’loev – First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Ansari – Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University.
