Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies Holds a Heartfelt Meeting with Female Students
Professor Gulchekhra Rikhsiyeva, Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, held a meeting with the university’s female students.
During the meeting, Gulchekhra Rikhsiyeva spoke in particular about the high level of attention given to women in Uzbekistan, as well as the broad opportunities, favorable conditions, and benefits created for them. Noting that women currently account for approximately 49.6 percent of Uzbekistan’s population, the Rector emphasized that ensuring gender equality and supporting women have become among the priority areas of state policy. She stressed that this requires each of us to appreciate these opportunities and approach our education with even greater responsibility.
Continuing her speech, she highlighted to the students the following words of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, concerning the role of women in society:
“Where there is a woman, life is beautiful and the family is prosperous. Women are the most important pillars that maintain balance in the family and society. Indeed, attention to women is attention to the future, to the future of the nation.”
The Rector emphasized that the female students sitting in classrooms today are the future educators of generations, skilled diplomats who will represent Uzbekistan to the world, dedicated women scholars, and leaders in the spiritual and educational spheres. It was noted that the university has created all the necessary conditions for young women to acquire strong academic knowledge while preserving the values of Eastern etiquette and national traditions.
During the meeting, the students shared their views and suggestions regarding the educational process, participation in research activities, meaningful use of their free time, as well as their professional and personal development. Questions, proposals, and initiatives raised by the students were discussed, and relevant views were expressed on addressing existing challenges.
The meeting also highlighted the life journeys of distinguished female graduates of the University of Oriental Studies and women scholars who have received high state recognition. The students were encouraged to pursue knowledge by drawing inspiration from such educated and accomplished women, to uphold Eastern etiquette and national values, and to strive to become both happy women who nurture their families and highly qualified professionals in the future.
At the end of the event, Rector Gulchekhra Rikhsiyeva and the female students planted saplings together in the university garden under the symbolic name “My First Sapling.”
This beautiful initiative became a symbol of hope that, just like these young saplings, our female students will flourish and grow during their years at the university and, in the future, become accomplished professionals who make a worthy contribution to the development and prosperity of Uzbekistan.
