RESPECT FOR THE TEACHER — RESPECT FOR KNOWLEDGE AND THE FUTURE
Today, September 30, a spiritual and educational event entitled “Respect for My Orientalist Teacher!” was held at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies in connection with October 1 — Teachers’ and Mentors’ Day.
The festive event was attended by the university’s professors and teaching staff, employees, labor veterans, as well as students and young people.
During the event, Gulchehra Rixsiyeva, Rector of the university, sincerely congratulated teachers and mentors on their professional holiday and particularly highlighted the views expressed and tasks assigned by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the meeting held today during his visit to the “New Uzbekistan” University, particularly concerning priority tasks in the field of education, including ensuring quality education, training qualified specialists, and opportunities to support educators.
As the Head of State emphasized, recognizing the role and contribution of teachers in society, improving the quality of education, and creating the necessary conditions for educators are important factors in the development of the country.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s statement, “To honor a teacher means to honor not only a representative of one profession, but also the future of an entire nation,” was fully in harmony with the content and essence of today’s festive event held at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
As part of the event, a ceremony was held to honor professors and teaching staff who had attained academic degrees and titles, recognizing their effective work and contributions to the fields of science and education.
The festive program featured poetic and musical performances dedicated to teachers, a “Knowledge Competition” among the university’s professors and teaching staff, as well as a creative program featuring artists.
In particular, university student Muslima Jo‘rayeva performed the song “Ustozdir u” (“He/She Is a Teacher”). Farog‘at Huqoyqulova, a member of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan, delivered a poetic tribute dedicated to teachers.
University Professor and Doctor of Historical Sciences Alisher Doniyorov, singer Imron, “Nihol” Award laureate Dilmurod Otajonov, and the university’s “Sanduvoch” ensemble contributed to the festive atmosphere with their performances.
Today, attention to teachers’ work and mechanisms for encouraging and supporting educators are being consistently expanded. In particular, it was noted that over the past five years, the number of teachers holding international and national certificates has increased from 29,000 to 143,000.
In this regard, today’s event at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies became an expression of profound respect for teachers, their honorable and responsible work, and the invaluable role of science and education in nurturing the younger generation and advancing society.

“Whoever taught you a single letter on the path of truth,
Even a hundred treasures cannot repay that person’s due.”
