Participants of Uzbekistan Summer School – 2026 Got Acquainted with the Historical and Cultural Heritage of Tashkent
As part of the Uzbekistan Summer School – 2026 program, another cultural and excursion tour was organized for foreign participants, aimed at closely exploring the historical, cultural, and architectural heritage of Tashkent.
The participants first visited the State Museum of Applied Arts of Uzbekistan, where they got acquainted with the centuries-old craftsmanship traditions, national decorative applied arts, and unique cultural heritage of the Uzbek people. The museum’s exposition showcases thousands of unique exhibits created from the 19th century to the present day, including samples of national embroidery, skullcaps (duppis), jewelry, carpets, as well as woodcarving and ceramic artworks. During the tour, the guests were provided with detailed information about these masterpieces, the history of their creation, and the rich cultural values of the Uzbek people.
Following this, the participants visited the ancient part of Tashkent — the Hazrati Imam (Hast-Imam) complex. This complex is one of the most important religious and educational centers of our country, preserving the holy Quran of Usman (Mushaf of Usman), which is considered one of the oldest manuscripts in the world, as well as a sacred strand of hair believed to belong to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The guests also explored the Barak-Khan Madrasah, the Kaffal ash-Shashi Mausoleum, and the Juma Mosque, receiving detailed information about their historical and architectural significance.
At the end of the day, the foreign guests had the opportunity to travel by the Tashkent Metro, recognized as one of the most beautiful and unique underground transport systems in the world. The unique architectural design of each station, incorporating national decorative elements and masterpieces of art, left a great impression on the participants.
During the cultural excursion, the participants also tasted Uzbek national dishes, getting a taste of the country’s rich culinary traditions and culture of hospitality.
Such cultural and educational events are an essential component of the Uzbekistan Summer School – 2026 program. They serve to enrich foreign participants’ knowledge about Uzbekistan’s rich historical heritage, national values, and modern development, while also strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and cultural exchange among nations.
