An online webinar dedicated to Alisher Navoi with Turkish partners. On February 6, between 13.00-14.00 Turkish time and 15.00-16.00 Uzbek time, at the initiative of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul in a collaboration with Istanbul University, Istanbul Commercial University and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies held an online event called “Remembering and understanding Navoi” (Nevaî’yi Anmak, Anlamak). In the first phase of the online event, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul Amirsaid Agzamkhodjayev opened the event. Amirsaid Agzamkhodjayev welcomed the participants and spoke about the unique role of Alisher Navoi not only in Uzbek literature but also in the entire Turkic world. He announced the establishment of the International Public Fund on the occasion of the 580th anniversary of Navoi’s birth by the decision of The President of The Uzbekistan. One of the guests invited to the event, rector of Istanbul university of commerce, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu speaking in uzbek, commented on the poem of the People’s Poet of Uzbekistan Erkin Vahidov, “Where Temur’s knife did not reach, Alisher took it with a pen.” He said that Navoi is a unifying value of the Turkish world. Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies Dr. Gulchehra Shavkatovna spoke about the role of Alisher Navoi in the Uzbek language and literature, the importance of our spiritual heritage. Emphasizing the Navoi nights, which are widely celebrated across the country, she described the work and tasks done to revive the heritage of our ancestors. Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies Dr. Elyor Mahmudov also thanked the organizers of the event. He also touched upon the issues of further expansion of our cooperation. The second stage of the event was held in the form of a scientific-educational panel. Istanbul Cultural University Professor Prof. Dr. Vahit Türk delivered a speech on “Alisher Navoi’s place in our culture and history”. Assessing Alisher Navoi’s unique personality in the history of Turkish culture, he stressed that there is no other name in history that can be put next to his name. He explained the importance of Navoi’s works in our spirituality and history with examples. Professor of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies Dr. Ahmadjon Quronbekov spoke on “Problems of studying the language of Alisher Navoi’s works.” He listed the dictionaries published in the study of Alisher Navoi’s language. In addition to the work being done in this area, the expert also provided information about the scientists working. Associate Professor of Istanbul University Dr.Reyile Kaşgarlı speaking on “The role of Navoi and his works in the protection of the national consciousness of the Uyghurs,” Reyile Kashgarli spoke at length about the influence of Chigatay literature in the Uyghur language. He spoke about the role of Navoi’s personality in educating Uyghur youth today. He focused on the work to be done for the development of our common language and the issue of inheriting Navoi’s heritage as the spiritual basis of our national consciousness. At the end of the program, the floor was given to the opinions and suggestions of the guests and listeners. Moderated by a big researcher of Istanbul Commercial University, Zebiniso Kamalova.
