Higher School of Linguistics

Within the framework of the 16th direction 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN’s “Peace, justice and strong institutions”, an offer was made to TSUOS Community Council to open a Higher School of Linguistics at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

According to this proposal, starting from October 4, 2022, theoretical and methodological courses were launched by the Higher School of Linguistics in order to further deepen the theoretical knowledge of doctoral students and researchers at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. Courses are regularly conducted by the most experienced experts-professors of the field on Tuesdays and Saturdays of every week. The organizers of this course are Department of “Theoretical and Applied Linguistics” and Department of Scientific Research, Innovation and Training of Scientific and Pedagogical Personnel of TSUOS.

On October 6, 2022, a scientific meeting was held at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies on the issues of this proposal. Professors and teachers of the university and researchers in the field of linguistics took part in the meeting. At the meeting, the main issue was the development of theoretical and fundamental linguistics at the university, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this direction. A number of proposals were made regarding the opportunities created by the university for the new Higher School of Linguistics. The main goal of the Higher School of Linguistics is to carry out interdisciplinary research.

The Higher School of Linguistics offers classes in the following linguistic disciplines:

  1. “Oriental Linguistic Traditions”.
  2. “Modern trends in linguistics”.
  3. “Linguistic typology”.
  4. “Methodology of linguistic research”.

Courses in related disciplines include:

  1. “Symbolic Anthropology”.
  2. “Cultural Anthropology”.
  3. “Semiotics”.
  4. “Sociology of everyday life”.
  5. “Neurolinguistics”.
  6. “Sociolinguistics”.
  7. “Computer Linguistics”.
  8. “Theoretical and practical foundations of dissertation research”.
